is our car a freakin import or a domestic

the confusion arose when i was talking to a friend about putting a borla exhaust on the car. he was suprised borla made an exhaust for our car, you say borla he thinks mustang, vette, and pick ups... so my question to all is. what the hell is our car?!? its assembled in hiroshima, so technically i guess it had to be imported from japan but still. is it a japanese motor? im guessing most of the small parts and interior is american. w/e. fill me in guys thanks.

No, it is Mazda3 4cyl is not an American motor.

Now the Mazda6 is made up in Detroit... I drove past their plant a few weeks back. They have a HUGE banner with a Mazda6 on it. Pretty sweet. If I had a 2-story wall I wanted covered and a helicopter... I'd think about ganking it.

Re: is our car a freakin import or a domestic

Depends who you ask. Technically, I suppose the 3 is an import (the 6 is not) since its assembled in Japan. But Mazda is a Ford controlled company. The MZR23 is also known as the Duratec 23... in Mazdas case, I believe it is built in Japan, but again, same engine as Ford uses. Import vs Domestic is really losing its meaning. If I had to say one or the other though, I'd personally say Mazda is a domestic brand. You really could argue it either way though.
