WHO LOVES NHL HOCKEY

I know there are some of you out there especially with a large number of canadian members here.
Before I begin peolpe either really love hockey or hate it, if you hate if PLEASE DON"T COME IN HERE AND START BASHING THE SPORT, which is easy to do right now. However feel free to bash Bettman and Goodenow all that you wish.

with that said I am DYING for some nhl hockey , i still haven't pick myself up off the floor since Khabibulin's insane save on Leopold's shot with 2:00 reaming in game seven of the last NHL game played (god I hate that the tampa won) but man that was a long ass time ago. After a long long long period of pure torture and getting our hearts ripped out, light appers at the end of the tunnel. (i hope to hell i don't jinx it)Both sides met until 1:30am sunday night/monday morning and plan on starting again early monday. rumors now stating a resolution announcement as well as new rules changes and of course the "new and improved nhl logo"to come on wed while baseball is breaking for it allstar game, clearly a marketing move to get as much attention as possible since there will be nothing else happenning in the sports world that day. After that it will be a crazy ass summer with the crosby sweepstakes (their saying everyteam will have the same chance to get the first pick) as well as an insane amount of free agent movement (over 500 free agents (restricted and unrestricted)) not to meantion the high rollars trying to figure out how to get under the cap. and since its already july, camps could be open in less then 2 months with the season starting in 3. can't wait to see what tix price will be like.

Re: WHO LOVES NHL HOCKEY

I'm glad it's not striking anymore. But I don't think it's in the top 4 of sports anymore. Mabye even out of the top 5. Oh and Lindros RULES!!!!

Re: WHO LOVES NHL HOCKEY

oh man, yeah I'm a die hard hockey fan. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!! I think was the worst Apr-Jun of my life with no playoffs. I think this is the worst part of the sports year, with baseball being the only active sport. Nothing against baseball, but when 7 out of 10 Top Ten Plays on Sprts Center are either a diving catch or a homerun, something is wrong. In one small way I'm kinda happy because without hockey to watch this winter/spring I got hooked on NASCAR. I know I know YEE HAW!!! GOD BLESS DALE EARHARDT etc etc but desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm glad Bettman and Goodenow are slowly removing their heads from their asses but I think they have a long way to go.

Re: WHO LOVES NHL HOCKEY

Dale Earnhardt died for your sins.....

DAMN! I can't wait for hockey to start back up! It completely sucked this year without being able to go to caps games, talk about hockey at the bar, watch highlights on sports center, etc....

What really pisses me off, and what has a lot of players angry too, is that they held out and caused the season to be canceled because they weren't going to accept a salary cap. And then they caved in at the last second and could have salvaged at least some of the season, but the cap was too low. And now they've pretty much agreed to a cap that's lower than what they could have gotten 6 months ago and we wouldn't have missed a whole damn season.

Re: WHO LOVES NHL HOCKEY

I'm a big hockey fan as well.. fan of the best team to ever play in the NHL

I barely made it through this year.. it was extremely boring..
I'm also ashamed to say, but I even watched a little NBA this year .. yeah I know I know.. *but you have to understand.. desperate times call for desperate measures.. ahah *

I personally think winning back fans in the US is going to be the toughest challange.. *and that sucks, since the NHL is trying to expand in some US markets..

I also agree with Operator, NHL players wanna get payed like the pro's, but what they don't understand is that the NHL is not in the top 4 or 5 sports in North America, its not the NFL, or the NBA or MLB etc.
So I think a pay cut is inevitable...

Re: WHO LOVES NHL HOCKEY

I am so happy to hear that news. I've all but stopped paying attention to the CBA announcements. Not to mention I stopped getting the emails for them too. Not sure why. Any how. Baseball season does kinda suck this year. Probably because my Giants are doing so poorly. But I love the fact that not so common teams are playing good right now, like Washington, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore, etc......I like to see new teams in the playoffs. Not the same old crap every year.

Back to hockey though. I love the sport. My buddy just got me into playing roller hockey, you know, on roller blades. It's not the same as ice. I want to learn to ice skate though. But Monday and Wednesdays I get a good dose of my hockey adrenaline. It's really fun. And playing against people better than you is even better. It helps build skills and what not. I love it! I can't wait for a season to finally start in the NHL. I just hope my beloved Sharks do hella good. We were supposed to win the Cup last year! >=\

Re: WHO LOVES NHL HOCKEY

My girlfriend is going to be in shock when hockey season starts. I met her this year and she has no idea how much I like just sitting back and watching hockey.

Defenitely cant wait either, maybe this poker playing craze will go away once hockey starts up again. *Did anyone else notice how popular poker got once the NHLPA went on strike?
