Here we go again

Well, Hurricane Dennis is just around the corner.* Waiting to see where it is going once it arrives in the Gulf.* Bev and my daughters are packed up and ready to go at a moment's notice to beat the traffic out of here today.* I'm gonna stick around and see what happens.

We've already boarded the windows and put away all the lawn furniture.* Hopefully, we'll stay on the West side of the 'cane, where the winds aren't so extreme.

Anyone else in the projected path?* Looks like Pensacola may get blasted again.* I hate to say "Better them than me," because they got it bad last year with Ivan...

Will keep you posted on anything from my part of the country.* Good luck to anyone else affected by this storm.* I've always been an adventurous person when it comes to this kind of stuff, but things change drastically when you have a family.

Re: Here we go again

hurricanes and severe weather can be fun when you've got nothing to lose...but when it comes down to family and your home they can really suck

Re: Here we go again

I like thunder and lightning myself. I can sit for hours watching a T-storm. But I'd hate to deal with hurricanes. I almost moved to N.C. back in the mid-90's. Kinda glad I came back to Cali instead. Texas had some awesome ass storms.

Good luck with the hurricane!

Fuckin' hurricane! I live in Michigan and we're already suffering. This week, gas has gone up 30 cents a gallon to 2.49 and they are blaming it on the hurricane. Next thing you know, we're going to hear reports on big profits from the oil companies. Fuckin' bastards.

I don't know if you'v been through hurricanes before, but its really not recommended to leave if you live there. ( i understand getting the kids out, and your staying whichis good)) if you live in a evac zone (usually within 2 miles of beach) as i do, they say to go to a near by shelter or stay with frends locally. tourists need to high tail out of there. they say this cause if there is alot of damage it could be weeks before you could actually get back, and believe me your gonna wanna be there if there are any problems. as long as your in a sturdy home with properly boarded windows (if any wind gets into the house tjhe pressure weakens the structure and thats when the roof goes) you should be alright. I'm sure your getting all kinds of shit on the news right now too. we're getting outer squalls sweeping throught down here in so florida right now. not to bad though some 30mph gusts. looks like its gonna be a long summer of hurricanes just like they predicted. Good Luck

Re: Here we go again

Yes, I'm staying.* Windows are boarded up, all the hatces are battened down.* The hurricane looks to make landfall at Mobile, AL, so to the East of us.* My neighbor has been* here for about 30 years, fielding a couple of 'canes himself.* He feels confident we'll be ok.* So I'm going to weather it out with my cat Zoe and a couple of friends.* I'm gonna stay online as long as I can to update friends and family.* I may not be back on-line for a while, so I'll post as soon as I can in the future.

I'm nervous as hell... but I'm not leaving...

Wish me luck!
