Boy, 11, stabbed baby whose crying spoiled his PlayStation

Quote:
An 11-year-old boy stabbed his baby nephew in the stomach after the infant's crying disrupted his PlayStation game.

The boy told police that in the minutes before the incident he had kept "dying" as he played the game, based on the cartoon characters The Incredibles, in his bedroom. The crying made him feel like "an erupting volcano''.

He paused the game and went to get a kitchen knife to repair a toy. Then he went into the baby's bedroom and stabbed him in his carry cot. The blade broke and he hid the knife under a television cabinet.

Yesterday the boy, dressed in a black suit, white shirt and purple tie, sat beside his father at Hull Crown Court and denied attempted murder on Dec 15 last year. He also denied wounding with intent and wounding.

...

His mother returned to her flat and found the baby bleeding heavily in his carry cot. He was taken to the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, for surgery to a life-threatening injury and remained in hospital for six days.

When police interviewed the boy he recalled hearing his nephew crying and described fetching the knife and mending a toy from McDonald's. Then he went into the baby's room. "I still had the knife in my hand and I know I hit him with it in the bedroom. Without realising it, I stabbed him," he allegedly said.

He said he had stabbed the baby with a force "somewhere in the middle'' of his capability and described his nephew's eyes "going big" as the knife entered.

Henry Pearson, a consultant general surgeon at the hospital, said the knife had been pushed in one direction and then possibly in two other directions while inside the baby's stomach.

Damn thats just weird. *Here all the conservatives complain about how GTA is too violent and some 11-year old boy stabs a baby while playing The Incredibles. *I'm not usually the kind of person that blames the parents. *But it isn't very advisable to keep sharp knives where small children can reach. *You don't but drano in front of your baby for him to drink do you. *I'm not saying parents are to blame for the behavior, but they shouldn't have had the knives in an easily accesible place. *I mean, he went to get a knife to fix his McDonalds toy?? WTF??

I assume the baby survived?

maybe an adult should have been the babysitter instead of relying on the playstation to take care of the kids?

it's not conservatives, pretty much everybody complains about violence in entertainment here.* It's not a conservative thing it's a "pretending to protect the kids gets me re-elected no matter how stupid it is" mentality that is common to all who occupy elected positions.* How can you forget Joe "Emperor Palpatine" Lieberman teaming up with Tipper "I think I'm cool because I have a stupid name" Gore to demand warning labels on cd cases and criminal penalties for people that sell violent games to children?

Again, it's not conservatives, it's everybody.* But it's ok, because it's for the children. You don't hate children......do you?

On the other hand, you can't help but sympathize. Crying babies are exceptionally annoying and I've sometimes wanted to jump over my neighbor's fence and go drill sergeant on the baby. Maybe even get it to do a couple of push ups.

That's tragic. I very much disagree about leaving an 11 year old with a baby all by themselves. That's just irresponsible.
