Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo 4?

Here's the deal. I want to purchase one of these two games, but I don't own either of the systems associated with them, so I'll need to be picking that up as well. Also, I know the PS2 has that nice logitech steering wheel and peddle system, but does the xbox have anything comparable.?

Basically I want to get a nice racing sim game to learn more about cars. I played gran turismo 1 way back in the day and found it was a great way to learn about all the different types of cars, mods, and the affect of mods. I'd like to get back into it, but I've since fallen behind in my game playing and haven't gotten into any of the new systems. Gameplay is important, but I guess I'd take the more realistic game if it came down to it. If I were to pick a system alone I'd go with the xbox since I like the online functionality, but I'm a little leery of Forza, being a classic GT fan. So anyone here play both and can recommend one over the other? Help me decide which system to buy. Thanks!

The only reasone I like foza is back of the mazda 3. If you don't care about that, than get the GT4.

Btw: this is a repost and should be moved to the lounge.

You can drive a Mazda3 using PS2 too. The game is called Kaidou Battle 2: Chain Reaction.

Re: Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo 4?

The x-box has a steering wheel, I spent ~100$ on the PS2 wheel and have only used it for a few hours. I don't have a proper setup to mount/use it consistently. My Mazda dealership has two wheels though... and a 54" plasma screen... and GT3

I have GT4, it's fun. It is also LONG. I am ~76% of the way through the game.

A few main points for Forza > GT4 are: XBL, damage, more paint options, and body kits.
A few main points for GT4 > Forza are: the massive number of cars, tracks, and GT series name.

I also have racing games such as TOCA2 and TXR0, TXR3, GT3, PGR, PGR2, LeMans 24h, NASCAR 2004, SRS, Burnout3, and others. Let me know if you want personal reviews of any of those.

I wouldn't buy a system just for one game... atleast not a NEW system. See what games interest you that are out there for the systems and go for the one that offers the best games for you. If you have high speed internet access and like playing against other people... both systems offer online play. XBL is considerably easier IMO.

im hardcore GT4 all the way...its just better...that is if youre looking to have the most realistic experience. there are some downsides to GT4 but then again there are some to Forza.
Overall, if youre looking for a realistic, quality game go GT4, if youre looking to drive a Mazda 3 and have a totally different but still somewhat realistic feel go Forza. ...oh and the damage isnt
all that great in forza... it even lags so bad you can hit a wall and turn the camera and see the damage being inflicted on your car after its moved away from whatever hit it!

PS2 >>>>> XBOX ...anyday!

Re: Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo 4?

GT4 All the way.
I don't know about you guys, but I think the graphics, car physics (except for car damage), sound, number of cars, number of tracks, REALISM, and replay value are all in GT4's favor.
The only two things that I think Forza has over GT4 is car damage and online play.
That's just my opinion.

Re: Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo 4?

at this point i would not buy a new system. The launche of the ps3 and the x box 360 are right around the corner so the production of games for both of these systems is going to come to a halt soon. Wait and pick up one of the newer systems.
