NBA offseason trades

The first of many big trades has occured in the NBA. Kurt Thomas, PF, was sent to the Phoenix suns for Quentin Richardson, SG, who was sent to the N.Y. Knicks.

I dont like this trade for phoenix, becuase they lose mobility, youth, and 3pt shooting. Not to mention Kurt Thomas is old now (32) and probably wont be as good in the high tempo offense that Pheonix runs...

Oh yea, pheonix also gave up a 1st round draft pick.

In other news, the NBA Draft occured, with Andrew Bogut going as the expected #1 pick.. My team, the lakers, chose some bizarre picks considering that the current coach, Phil Jackson, has a known style to not play rookies or to let them develop properly.

Oh well. Thoughts?

Re: NBA offseason trades

I agree with the fact that "Q" was traded but then again its worth it in a way. The Suns are looing to get some power under the boards for Amare. "Q" isnt as strong as Thomas is. Also Thomas is also Cheaper. That will free up some Salary money to re-sign Joe Johnson and Extend Amares contract.

Also Suns are looking to Sign Michael Finley who now is a free agent. Who was with the Mavs last season.

Re: NBA offseason trades

Actually on the cap, Thomas is more of a hit, Q was only ganna be 6-8 million, Thomas is roughly $14 million against the cap

Oh well, if they get finley, their all good

werd, he's the the soul of that team... I mean, I'd trade dirk to phoenix before I trade finley. Actually, they should trade dirk to phoenix - I need my avatar to be complete again.

Re: NBA offseason trades

^^^I think the Finley deal will happen. Its been on the news all morning and if that happens then the Suns would kill the West teams.

Re: NBA offseason trades

Finley and Joe Johnson are almost identical players... the Suns would do better to make a trade or move to get a big dude who can actually play some defense and *gasp* help out when the game's tempo slows down.
