Fix my Bike

Alright, I just tried to start my bike - it hasn't been used since last season. There's gas in it, and the battery *seems* fine. It's cranking but not turning over/starting.

Ideas?

Re: Fix my Bike

drain the gas, put fresh gas...check for spark...worse comes to worst, after the fresh gas is in it, try push starting it...

**and you thought that wouldn't get removed?

Re: Fix my Bike

well 1st off you should not have stored it the way you did, but anyways

i say take it in to be looked at, cause *if you start to deal with it you may mess up more than what is wrong now.

i would but check the battery, check the sparks plugs( make sure they are clean etc.)

check the air filter( clean letting air in the engine not dirty with dust etc.)

other than that i dont know i would have to be there to let you know.

also make sure fuel is getting to the engine, pump then gas a lil bit( the gas in the line could have dried some)

i dont know what else....good luck

Re: Fix my Bike

Yeah I need to check for spark. Most of the gas in it is brand new - but yeah, there's certainly some sludge at the bottom.

I've never really pulled this bike apart before... afraid to do it now

Well, check oil, battery, gas, and spark

Have you tried electric or kick start?

Re: Fix my Bike

Alright, I got it working. Didn't take any imagination.

Seems like the new fuel just needed time to get through the system - when I got home from work, it started. Took a bunch of starts/stalls before it stayed on reliably, but I just took a few mile ride. It be working

Re: Fix my Bike

Well, I didn't store it at all. My dad more stole it and "stored" it for me

But yeah.

Anyway, I managed to fuck it up again. Sigh. This time, the battery is drained. I got home from work today, went to go for a ride, got it started once then killed it, then went to start it again and it wouldn't start. Now the battery is definitely low. ARGH!
