Thinking of switching over to the darkside: Apple Notebook

Okay....

I'm strongly thinking of going for an Apple notebook in the 14" screen size range.

Question is: iBook or Powerbook? I heard the new Tiger OS is quite t3h shit...as well as being able to remote in to your Windows PC (not sure how right clicking works for that ) .

Anyone have either of these? At the moment I'm prefering the cheaper one because....it's cheaper . The most strenuous thing I'll be doing is some photochopping. Is the powerbook worth the money? . Also, does it really get the 6 or so hours of battery life it claims too?

Well- remember for Apples you need all new software that is compatible. So you might end up spending much much more in the long run because you can't use the programs you currently have.

I'll be using it for work and everything is web based anyway. The only software I'll need is a graphics program (probably photoshop)....but hey...welcome to the 21st century where no one pays for their software anyway .

Don't get a Mac if you are fond of
dealing with problems caused by viruses.
Or you will miss talking to tech support.

Otherwise it will the best computer purchase
you ever make.

i have the first gen Ti G4 powerbook, upgraded with 768 ram. i have had the computer for several years with no problems. my sister just upgraded to OS 10.4 and she says there is a noticeable gain in speed from the last OS.

I've only heard excellent things about OS Tiger, especially for the Windows user at heart. Apparently remoting in to your windows machine is a breeze, which is exactly what I'll be needing to do at work.

I've never really used a Mac, is it pretty easy to figure out?

Based on my budget I think I'm definitely going with the iBook, 14". Gonna pass on the superdrive 'cause I don't think it's worth the $250 they want for it and I already have a DVD burner on my desktop. Rather spend the extra $97 to upgrade the ram to 512.

the switch is real easy, at least it was for me. and to right click you have to hold the control key and click.

Or, you can just get a 2 or 3 button mouse and it will work natively with OSX. wOOt

By the way, I have an original Al PB 867 that I use every day. Very fast and no probs. I am only up to 10.3.9 however.
