Got out ouf my ticket! :)

Well...I was bringing my brother back to school since his dentist apt. was in the AM and well I'm not really paying attention to my speedometer, and its 45mph zone well i come around a curve state trooper coming opposite direction as i look down im going an easy 60....so i turn on the next road and look behind me and see nothing but blue lights .... at this point im making up words i never knew...and my brother is about to pee in his pants...

well...he pulls me gives me a ticket says he clocked me at going 59 in a 45 blah blah blah - all thats running through my head is ... i can't tell mom and dad, so i go to the court pay it [$152].

A week later get a letter in the mail...Your ticket has been taken off your record, the cop didn't get his radar gun calibrated for the day, and you will be refunded your $152. Your record is clean and nothing is on it any longer...

This is when I tell the parents and they were kind of mad i didn't tell em' before but happy that i got out of it!

DAMN IM LUCKY!

[this wasn't with the mz3 ... it was with my old accord, but still thought i'd share]

Whoa. I thought that if you paid a ticket, it was an automatic "plead guilty". Guess I was wrong.

By the way. a 15-over speeding ticket while under the age of 21 is a $1500 a year jump in insurance (at least, it is in PA). Paying the ticket was the stupid thing to do... your parents would have found out as soon as your insurance skyrocketed on the next payment. If it was your first offense, you had a good chance of being able to take a driving class to get out of it.

Just an FYI for next time.

Yeah, i had signed up for classes and everything, because it had been my first offense...and it wouldn't have effected my insurance to much because i was doing it voluntarily and not because the judge made me.

So that looked even better, at least that's what the driver's ed guy told me...Of course tho I didn't end up going to the classes or paying when i got the letter in the mail

Ahh good old calibration Thats why if a cop is being a dick about pulling me over I ask to see his last calibration report for his radar gun. Its saved me more than once.

most officer have a trainin officer that is the witness to their calibrating their radar gun. This report should be present with the officer while out so he can prove that the gun has been calibrated for the necessary time frame..Ive asked to see it twice. Once the office said I didnt need to see it because he was only giving a warning..and the other cop just got pissy with me..so I asked for his badge number, in which he got even more pissed...but let me off with a warning. They were both lucky situations where I knew I wasnt speeding and the cop was just pulling me over because it was 3am and I was a young guy out driving.
