2005-2006 NFL Season Chit-Chat

...beginning where the "NFL Draft" thread left off.

Chad Brown started his career in Pittsburgh and played from 1993-1996. *Then, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 1996 and was just released during the 2004 season. *He has 13 NFL seasons under his belt. *

Yes, Pittsburgh has seen Pro Bowl linebackers (players in general) come/go quite frequently. *LBs - Jason Gildon #92, Greg Lloyd #95, Chad Brown #94, Kendrell Bell #97, Levon Kirkland #99, Kevin Greene #91...

Either due to lack of funds or too many injuries, many of the TOP PLAYERS come/go through Pittsburgh like a dime a dozen. *However, the scouts/agents for the Steelers are unbelieveable. *No matter how big the talent is they lose, they find a way to replace them with a bigger talent. *

Definitely the best replacement/drafting team of the NFL IMO.

Any other Steelers fans on our forum?

and YES...football is my favorite sport by far! *and YES...I'm excited to talk about the season 4 months ahead of schedule. *haha

NFL Talk - Countdown to the 2005-2006 Season

I'm a Cowher fan and always pulled for Pittsburgh because of the blue collar type of mentality associated with it.

Being in NC, I am a Panthers fan first when it comes to the NFL. Hopefully they can stay healthy this season and get back to the Super Bowl. I dont think most people realize just how many players they lost last year due to injury. It was one helluva job by Fox and the team to miss the playoffs by only one game.

I always look forward to the NFL season, and especially the Eagles

I really don't see any reason why they shouldn't get back to the Super Bowl this upcoming season, because they didn't lose any real 'impact' players, and the rest of the NFC hasn't improved that much.

It looks like it should be a great season for PA football

NFL Talk - Countdown to the 2005-2006 Season

I'm originally from a small town about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh...so...that is why I'm a B&G fan. However, Bill Cowher has had my interest since he joined the Steelers in 1992-1993.

I've met him, along with many of the players (Bettis, Porter, Ward, M. Smith, Reed, etc.) and Cowher is one heck of a guy. I love his style of coaching, his agression (which he needs to bring back this season), and his type of play overall. I just wish he'd WIN THE BIG ONE for once. I've spent too much $$ on playoff tickets just to be let down. haha

The Panthers did AWESOME when taking into regard their injuries and success. I see where ya coming from. They should have another stand out season too. Did they pick up any decent prospects in the draft?

Keeping TO happy might be too much to overcome in Philly. Will he become a distraction if he doesn't get what he wants?

Yeah I understand your 'concern' not being an avid Eagles 'follower', but Andy Reid and the organization have always had a way to keep distractions/controversy away form the team. Now T.O. is one of their big stars, so this is a little different, but I think this 'controversy' will be handled before the season even starts.

But, as was shown in the playoffs last year, the Eagles are more than just T.O. Their most complete player is Brian Westbrook, and may be more important than T.O. overall.

I was pulling BIG TIME for an all PA Super Bowl last season. Big Ben and our offense was quite disappointing in the playoffs, so...that did not occur.

Philly has always had a decent squad, especially with the addition of TO to the offense.

It was interesting to see the Eagles go with a DT, Mike Patterson, in the first round of the draft. Then again, can't do too much with the 31st pick.

The Eagles lost LB-Nate Wayne, LB-Ike Reese, G-Jermane Newberry, DE-Derrick Burgess, and OT-Ian Allen during the off season thus far.

The Eagles signed TE-James Whalen (from Bengals) and QB-Mike McMahon (from Lions) during the off season.

So, Lou is right...basically same squad from 2004 as far as talent goes. Eagles should as least go 11-5.

Good point, keeping TO happy in Philly is a full-time job. It seems like McNabb and TO butted heads the whole season too. Not good for a QB and his top receiver. I really like Westbrook and the Eagles have a solid offense - no arguement there. Should be interesting.

KC Chiefs are like the Steelers. Always solid Off and Def, but can never win "the big game" come playoff time.

Watch out for K. Bell though. He is quite injury prone (as Steelers found out last season), but he does bring much talent. I have a K.Bell jersey I can sell ya? haha

Again, the Steelers lost quite a big of talent in the offseason. WR-Burress (#80), LB-Kendrell Bell (#97), DT-Kendrick Clancy (#96), TE-Jay Riemersma (#84), T-Oliver Ross, CB-Chad Scott (#30), G-Keydrick Vincent. Burress is overrated. Bell is injury prone. Jay R. is past his "glory days". C. Scott is slow. However, Vincent, Clancy and Ross were big loses IMO. We'll still be okay...but could of been better with these three.
