Our coming together here as a community was eerily fortold..

So whatever happened to those "U.S. congressional hearings" over regulating the internet??

By the way, I miss the simple days of the Usenet.

To talk about art, music, sex, guitar construction...

I love how sex was sort of just thrown in there, but we all know that's what the real point of the internet is today.

And then the guy starts talking about how there's no cursing and put downs. HA! I wonder when that all changed...

Well, I started on the usenet newsgroups in '94 and flaming was in full swing then. I'm sure the meltdown happened many years before.

By the way, what is the date on that video?

I found out when doing my taxes that Kansas now wants to charge you a sales tax on all internet purchases, even if the origin of the item was not Kansas. Like I'm stupid enough to itemize my online purchases to then get taxed at 7% ..... idiots.

Yeah, but places that allow flame wars and sheer retardedness tend to end up being really crappy places to go for info. I never liked UseNet since it was just a huge cluster of random pr0n ads and trolls.
