Anyone else live in a bad neighborhood?

Last week, there was whole bunch of cops (including some un-marked cruisers) across the street. I figured it was a drug bust since that happens regularly on my street. Turns out, the lady who lived there with what seemed like 9 children was shot and killed by her boyfriend.

I gotta find a new job so I can save up faster and move the hell outta here...

Anyone else live someplace where this kind of stuff is common?

Eat right, exercise regularly, die anyway.

Anyone else live in a bad neighborhood?

Yeah... I live in a bad neighbourhood but I've grown up here so I don't know any different. It isn't the *worst* area in my city but it's the worst on the north side of my city so, hmm =/

A 65 year old lady down the street got raped and attacked in her house a couple of years back... that's just really really wrong.

My suburb is also the proud posessor of the largest police station in the state, but it hasn't helped crime levels that much- all it means is more evil cops spying on your speed limit and giving you tickets =/

I however do live in the 'nicer' part of my suburb (some deludenoid person many decades ago decided to build a new estate of nice big family homes only minutes away from dilapitated council housing and squats) but what it means though, is that it attracts the scum from further down the road. The entire area is never going to go up in price as far as property value is concerned thanks to all the community housing and riff raff that live in the area. Our home gets burgaled on average, once every year and a half despite security systems in place.

I'm not sure why we've lived here as long as we have. You can get a fairly good house for cheap here I suppose. You've just gotta be careful of the neighbours.

Unfortunately the scum from further down the hill have sort of spread to my estate in the last few years- the house across the road which once won an architectural design award when it was first built in the 1950s now looks like a bomb hit it, and it's garden is being used as a junkyard for old cars (there are about 5 broken down cars or bomby old cars parked up on the grass around the house across the road at any given time)... and it's only a 4 bedroom house and as far as I've been able to tell, about 12 people in their late teens-early 20s live there. It's become kind of like a boarding house. Apparently they're paying $20 a week each in rent.

But yes, there have been a few murders, a lot of stabbings, a lot of burglaries, many rapes, and god knows what else.

Could be worse though. *nods*

Anyone else live in a bad neighborhood?

hm when i was younger and i biked a lot
these little white kids(2-3 years younger than me) kept trying to gang up to steal my bike

when our house was broken into, one of our nice neighbors followed the guy back to a house 2 blocks over(area where those bad kids were from)

hell's angels place 1 block down

2-3 houses over there use to be a family with 2 young kids
like not even 8 or 9
the parents never really seemed to care about what the kids did, i'd see like those 2 kids walking down the back lane playing, none of their parents in sight
their house ended up burning down cause a stove was left on

Anyone else live in a bad neighborhood?

Haven't lived here too long- nothing really has happened, except my fiance's car was already broken into.

Where I lived before (my parents house) was a lot worse...Cars constantly getting broken into, robberies and a shooting a few years back. I remember once when I was little I was in my back yard and all of a sudden this guy with a bloody face comes running through my driveway and jumps the fence behind my house- a few seconds later a few cops come running after him... a little weird. It wasn't odd to hear sirens at all odd hours.

I am definatly buying a house soon- got to get out of here!

Well, my neighborhood is full of sex-offenders. The city is required to send out a newsletter when a new one moves into the neighborhood. I get one every six months or so. So I don't go for walks alone at night. And we've always got cops cuz my neighbors have a lot of domestic violence problems, and some of them have beat their kids to death, and stuff like that. Its just my little half mile of "bad" neighborhood in with a nice neighborhood. But I suppose its just something you get used to. My work isn't exactly in the best neighborhood either.
