i think i regret modding my 3.

it just seems like everything i've done has mode the car worse. installed the intake, now i get a cel i'm gonna have to go to aem to get fixed (hopefully they can even fix it). installed the rear sway bar and it squeaks. sure, my fault a little because i didn't do enough grease, but i haven't had time to fix it and it bugs. did the eibach springs and now the ride is a lot rougher andi get squeaks and creaks in random places. i bought car because i wanted a reliable nice car and now it's starting to sound and feel like my old modded civic that i started hating because it felt old.

i still like certain things about the car, but i wish i just had a nice quiet properly working car. maybe i'm getting old.

Sell your car and start over with a brand new 3. That would fix your problem. THis time DONT MOD IT!

I had a lot conflict between "do or not to do the suspension mod" such as lowering. I finally decide not to do it because I know it will make the ride rough...now after I read your post I feel like I made a smart choice...

Anytime someone starts messing with the OEM set up, they run the risk of the car not performing as it was originally designed to.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. Perhaps you can restore the car to its original state and some of the problems you're experiencing will go away.

I am very hesitant to start doing any mods to my car as I think Mazda would be quick to say it voids the warranty... I think I'm done after i change the turn signal lights to white...

let me give you some info or why i a not heavily modding my 3. Before my 3, my 1st car was a cavalier. Did dummy mods, like tints, radio, subs, stickers, altezza lights, and antenna. Simple stuff that the average Joe can do. Then I got rid of my cav in 03 and stepd up with a brand new 2003 Dodge Dakota. I lvoed that thing. Nothing special, didn't have powere anything! 2 weeks after i got it, i crashed it a bit, leaving me w/ 3 grand to fix. Then a few weeks later i got hit in the snow in a parking lot. Another grand. Then I started with the mods. I did everything man: tintes, 700 dollar alarm system aftermarket powere windows and lock, intake, exaust, stero system, rims, head lights, dvd player, etc. With the accdients and the stuff i did to it, i put roughly 11 grand into that thing, and didn't even have it a year. Where did it get me? NO WHERE! My plans for the 3 was as follows, do nothing except tint windows, and maybe a sub. Did I listen to myself, NO, i changed the radio and i did this whole stero install and crap. mind you i ripped the car apart less than a month after I got it. Then I decided, i like the stock look, so i took everything out (except for the speakers) I had to sodder the stero wires back 2gether and crap. Big mess behind my radio right now. I kept it simple. (PIE adapter, tints, alarm w/ remote start, and basslink) that's it. Maybe i will get a proclip for my ipod, who knows. Trust me man, once you start doing shit to a brand new car, say bye bye to reliable b/c that warrenty when out the sunroof. Do I wish i could, yeah sure, but i want this car to last more than a year.

I have never modded my cars for more power. I let my friends do it and I sit back and watch their cars turn to shit way before they should.

Cosmetic mods are one thing but performance mods are another. There are so many things that can go wrong with adding peformance enhancer's.

Plus, you can seriously risk voiding any warranty that is on your car by changing the purchased design of the car. Good Luck!

Raven, very true. The local Probe scene I used to associate with would love to, and still loves to mod their cars as much as they can - power and all. I see them run into problem after problem, and they all wonder what is going wrong. Geez.

My Probe has 173k+ miles on it and has had no major issues. I refuse to mod any of my cars in terms of engine/powertrain mods for that reason alone. I also now have a warranty to think about, so that also comes into play.
