Paypal?

i'm sure you guys use paypal all the time, but i have a question... I'm about to buy a stage1 dinan suspension off some guy on www.e46fanatics.com for $525USD and i just want to know how i'm protected if he just doesn't send me anything and changes his email and name on the site? What is to prevent that? If i paypal him the money, and i get nothing, am i just screwed? I heard that you can make a claim and get some of the money back, but only if there is money in his account and he hasn't transferred it to his bank account yet. I guess what my question is, is how am i protected against being scammed on the internet?

Paypal?

PayPal can only get you money back if its in your account. Furthermore, if anybody makes a claim against you PayPal will freeze all money in your account, hence why most sellers empty their PayPal acct asap. Your best protection is to make sure the guy has feedback and make sure its good.

Enjoy your spahgetti, you're very rude.

Use a credit card. If you get ripped off then you can go back to your CC to get your money back. Also make sure you have no money in your account

Paypal covers up to US$1000 for qualified purchases paid through Paypal. Read here... https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...p-info-outside

If you paid through Paypal, you shouldn't worry too much. I won an eBay auction for $3150, but I didn't use Paypal... I sent a money order instead and I haven't received the item yet :?. In this case, you better start panicking.

Paypal?

Just wanted to clarify to you that the PayPal Buyer Protection is only for items purchased through an eBay auction.

If you're buying this privately outside of an eBay transaction from "some guy on another forum" using PayPal, you have no protection. Perhaps your credit card has its own fraud protection policy as someone mentioned previously.
