I found some interesting information though. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with them pulling Y100 off air, but it still struck me as interesting. This is taken directly off of Radio One's website:

Radio One also programs XM 169 The POWER on XM Satellite Radio and owns approximately 40% of TV One, LLC, an African-American targeted cable channel, which is a joint venture with Comcast Corporation.

Our strategy is to expand within our existing markets and into new markets that have a significant African-American presence. We believe radio broadcasting primarily targeting African-Americans has significant growth potential. We also believe that we have a competitive advantage in the African-American market and the radio industry in general, due to our primary focus on urban formats, our skill in programming and marketing these formats, and our turnaround expertise.
In reading that over a couple times, and then looking at their list of radio stations that they own, I think it's painfully obvious why Alternative Rock didn't jive with their business strategy.

That is some interesting information. It just plain sucks that we don't have any alternative rock stations now.

zobx mentioned 97.5 in the other thread. Do you know anything about that? I know in the philadelphia area, 100.3 was THE station for alternative (and the morning show -- oh how I miss the morning show).

Dude, we're all pissed about this. I have nothing to wake me up in the morning. Do you know what I did? I spun the dial and that's what I listen to. It landed on NJ 101.5. I don't even live in New Jersey... *sigh*

Did you sign the petition? On the y100rocks.com website, someone sent them an e-mail saying he is looking to organize a protest. Apparently, there are 500,000 people in the Delaware Valley that listened to 100 daily. I don't think enough of them know what happened exactly, but the petition is currently at 46,045 signatures I believe and growing fast.

They are also looking to get on Fox 29 (the "What's Bugging You?" report) for publicity.

Yes, I did sign. I liked my comment too.

My friend told me about a protest this Saturday that she wanted me to make a website for. She hasn't gotten back to me about any specifics, but she said that Taking Back Sunday was supposed to be there. (which I wasn't supposed to say, but whatever, she's lied to me about worse things)

Actually, on the site they mention that several bands are giving publicity to the cause, including U2!!

As for the saturday protest, this is what the site mentions:

I wish I didn't have to go to work on Saturday, but I'm the only cashier they have in the morning at my weekend job and there's no one to fill in
