BankOne Credit Card Gripe

Well, It's my fault, but HORRIBLE customer service.

Bank one gave me a 9.9% APR on a credit card with a genorus limit. This made me feel great and accomplished, and I recommended it to all my friends.

I hadn't planned on using it, but I had to have an emergency medical procedure done about a year and a half ago. An after the insurence was done I had to use about $1600 of credit.

Well, I've paid every payment on time, except they said I paid my payment in novenber 13 days late. This was a one time thing.

They raised my APR from 9.9% to 26.49% and NEVER notified me!

I called tonight to figure all this out, and they said if I was even 1 day late they would do NOTHING for me.

OK, I agree, I made a mistake. but for being 13 days late one time, I'm being charged over $200 extra per year in interest.

I just wanted to Rant a bit, but learn from my mistakes, Don't be a day late on your credit card bill, and DON'T GET A BANKONE CREDIT CARD!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!

^^^

I know you're pissed, but you can't blame BankOne for bad service. If you read the fine print in any credit card disclosure, you'll see that you did actually agree to it. Here's a sample from my creditor's website:

If you look at the terms of your credit card, you'll see that in addition to your 9.9% APR introductory rate, there are usually a few other rates listed, under the names "preferred", "non-preferred", "default" etc... When you are late on a payment (depending on how much it was) you are automatically put in one of the corresponding (usually much higher) APR categories.

It sucks ass, but you did agree to it when you signed up. I wouldn't worry about the additional fees as much as I would about the ding it put on your credit score.

Nonetheless... that really sucks :-(
