Fed's pass "Real-ID" act of 2005

"Another portion of the bill says that states would be required to link their DMV databases if they wished to receive federal funds. Among the information that must be shared: All data fields printed on drivers' licenses and identification cards, and complete drivers' histories, including motor vehicle violations, suspensions and points on licenses."

Well, I guess constitution just got tossed.. again. Specifically, Article 1, Section 8. Also, the 10th Ammendment.

Bleh to this shit.

It's noting about having nothing to hide. It's everything about the federal government overstepping their place.

In considering this bill, the U.S. House will vote on whether to empower the federal government to determine who can get a driver's license -- and under what conditions.

Since you need a driver's license to purchase a gun from a dealer, this will give BATFE the expanded ability to impose even greater forms of gun control -- something which it has long coveted. This will become even more apparent if an anti-gun Democrat like Hillary Clinton wins the presidency in 2008.

I think this puts us at about.. 1979 on the 1984 scale.

Understood about the gov overstepping bounds but in certain instance it may save lives. I think some measures are needed now that auto weapons are allwoed to the public. Im guessing you dont want an illegal disgruntled immigrant going out and buying a ak with his DL that he achieved on less than legal grounds. Im not gonna argue that this is going to be flawless but it might help things out.

Automatic weapons are so heavily regulated from the NFA of 1934 that nobody is getting an automatic weapons legally to committ a crime.

I forget the exact specific, but most crimes committed with a gun are committed with illegal weapons. Along the lines of a criminal is breaking the law with the gun, so they have no problems breaking the law to get the gun.

Why single out us poor Immigrants??? The vast majority of us came to NA to live in peace and earn a living just like your forefathers did eons ago. Statistics prove conclusively that immigrants have done more then their share to pump up the economy. In fact, some illegal immigrants actually work a lot harder than those that had the money and resources to come here legally. I'd say you have more to worry about disgruntled hillbillies who have access to not just A FIREARM but an entire cache of firearms or explosive materials ala the columbine kids or the Unabomber.
