A purchase online with Credit Card?

Maybe someone can help me out here. I have made credit card purchases online before and they have always been fast. You order something and the funds are usually transfered and your product is shipped. Well I purchased an optima battery offline this past Sun the 6th and I called the place and they said there still waiting for the funds to deposited into there account. Can it take this long. They told me it usually takes 3-4 days. Is something up or is this normal depending on the business? Thanks

It's a credit card not debit. I checked my account online Tues and it showed on there. The place is www.batteriesareus.com When I called them on the phone the guy says it takes 3-4 days to deposit into there account.

Yup - it might be normal. It depends on who they are using to process/acquire the transaction and what type of relationship they have with the financial institution where the money is settled. Also it depends on the merchant agreement, sometime the acquirer will hold funds for x number of days for security reasons. Kinda like when you are new to a bank, they put a hold on funds that you deposit through an ATM to make sure they are legit.

Usually for card present transactions this is not an issue but card issuers, acquirers and banks sometimes have funny rules around ecommerce txns..

(I have been working in ecom/credit card acquiring since '98.)

I don't buy that. I work for an online store and we accept credit cards. They process immediately. He wouldn't be able to complete his purchase online if it didn't go through.

Kind of like when you're buying a DVD Player from your local store they don't let you walk out until your credit card has been approved.

Easiest thing to do is to call your credit card company and tell them you didn't authorize the transaction so they will issue a charge back.
