"I'm Gonna Be The Next Michael Schumacher"

I have two friends who are into cars and racing and stuff...one day they were stoned and tripping out talking about cars, one said that how cool would it be to be the one who designed a car alot of people drive.

Fast forward to a couple of months, they are planning to go to the Art Insitute of San Fransisco to learn and study about how to make cars and design them.

Its funny cause everyone they have mentioned this to have been like .... but they are really set in being some big name in the auto industry.

I mean really, its cool that you have a dream but sorry be a bit realistic, the next Michael Schumacher? Be the person to design the next car that will be on the street? Thats what I said...

Just how hard is it to be even close to being in the work of F1 or work in the auto industry? I wouldn't have laughed if they said they want to be mechanics or something...

One wants to be some big name racer, the other one wants to design cars.

I mean they didn't even tried to be humble about it...they just said "I'm GONNA be the next Schumacher" and "People will drive the car *I* will design next"

I've seen some of his drawings, ok at best. He even drawed Lamborghini Murcielagos and arranged what would go better and says that thats better aerodynamics and blah blah. Ok Mr. Big Wannabe Car Designer...be a bit original.

Its funny cause they are always discussing about how this car has this much horsepower, how they designed the car for aerodynamic performance, etc etc and always arguing how this car would beat that car. Ford GT this, Ferrari Enzo that.

How many people in the world want to be close to working in a field like this? How many racers and designers actually have a name? Good luck all I can say.

Stoners who might make it somewhere, sure why not...

Hey I didn't say it would happen.. I didn't even say it was likely! I just said it COULD happen.

Of course, it probably won't!

If they're "tweaking" car designs like a Murcielago or a Ford GT, then they really have no idea what they're in for. Those cars were designed the way they were because there's more to a car than just it's body design! Being able to work around the limitations that the engineers give you... that's the ticket! They might say "it would be more aerodynamic if they made the body like this...." but that could mean the visibility in certain windows is now unacceptable or something like that.

Oh well. Nothing knocks you off of your high horse harder than failure!

how would you like it if you told someone you wanted to do something and they told you were too stupid to do it?

It happens all the time. That just makes proving them wrong that much sweeter!

Are you directing this question at me (or someone else) specifically? I'm confused because no one said anything about anyone else being stupid.
