Tornado Warning in Arizona!!

Last night was the coolest night ever in Arizona (Northwest Valley) There was a big storm that passed! Nasty ass rain, wind, and major HAIL. The clouds were really bad looking. After picking up my car from the shop (Flat Tire getting fixed) Was heading home and a TORNADO WARNING was anncouned for the valley.

1st it was from 5:25pm to 5:45pm and then it was extented until 6:30pm and it was on every news station. They told everyone to stay inside. Well nobody listened to them. Why should we when was the last time a tornado warning was posted here. So everyone was out playing in the water and throwing hail.

After the storm passed, the tornado warning was cancelled! There was no tornado. This never happens to us here in the desert. So it was a great night.

Tornado Warning in Arizona!!

That's hilarious! My brother lives in Tempe, works in Scottsdale. I've been out there alot since he moved out there and I know that's rare. Boy that storm sounded serious for Phoenix, I'll have to ask him what he thought of it.

Rare yes, but not totally surprising.
I've been there a couple times.

'bought ten years ago, was driving thru the desert to fly rockets and saw a huge-ass dust devil. About 80 feet wide and 200 feet tall. No more than 300 feet away. Cool sight.

Have never experienced a thunderstorm in the desert.
Must be awesome.

You see them coming from miles away. (T storms that is)

Here in Ohio, I can't see them from too far away. You just know it's gonna dump on you because of the clouds.

Hmmm...that's quite a false alarm. A "tornado warning" means a funnel cloud has been SPOTTED. Otherwise, it's just a watch. I'd be pissed at someone for that (getting me all riled up and whatnot and having me waste me time searching for said tornado).

It was a warning. They had spotted a funnel on the west side of town. It just never touched down.
