Aftermarket wings. Blech. My rant

I've been around long enough to see a whole slew of mods come and go. I go back to carburetion, points and plugs, bias ply tires, no clear coats and non halogen lamps. Shit, we even had manual chokes! I've seen jacked up cars, low-riders, muscle cars and hot rods all have their day in the sun.

But I will never, EVER understand the attraction of a giant erector set style wing bolted on the rear deck of a car. They have ZERO styling in common with the body they are grafted to. Many are unpainted, few match the car color, and all are supremely ugly. They have zero function at sane speeds, no beauty, no creativity, and no originality on the part of the car driver. All they are is grafted shit.

Can anyone give me even one semi-rational reason for wanting one of these on a car?

They also generally have a negative effect, because they're more often than not put onto 'ricemobiles,' which just so happen to be front wheel drive. At any speed that the wing will work, it'll push down on the wrong wheels

Enjoy your spahgetti, you're very rude.

Damn, I wish I would have had my camera with me the other day when I went to the grocery store. Parked outside was a Dodge Neon with a homemade, WOOD spoiler!! The damn thing had 6" long lengths of 2x4 wood for the risers! They even had the audacity to PAINT it! ha ha ha ha Damn, opportunity lost. Would have been a classic picture for www.laughatrice.com !

Hmm. Didn't know that sight existed.
I clicked thru about fifty pics or so till my blood pressure was dangerously high.
Here's my fave pic at that point:

Granted those cars are rice.....but why are those idiots lying on the ground around em to take pics?? IMO they are as stupid as the guys who did the mods on their cars.

Ummm...because the name of the site is "laugh at rice...."?? That's the whole point, if you see a crappy, riced out car, you get a picture of someone laughing at it. Actually, I think some of those people in the pics are hilarious.
