Anyone Use Remote Desktop?

I'm having issues connecting.

I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 Router.
I set up my port forwarding identically as my buddy's (he has same router same, connection, etc)
I can Remote Desktop from inside my network but not from without.

I've had a few other guys at work try via their connections, we've all came to the same conclusion, it's some setting in the router.

I also attempted to access my remote administration stuff and it actually shut down my internet at home. I had to get my buddy to reset my router settings locally. (I'm at work)

make sure the port (its 3389) is being forwarded to the correct internal IP address of the machine you want to connect to.

To check if it is a router setting, you can DMZ that machine so all ports are open and pointing to the machine you want to connect to. If that works, then its a router setting. If not it's something else.

I know my ISP blocked port 3389 for a while, it might be that.

Ok, I have a thread that shows me how to change my 3389 to say 4000, 4001, etc...

I may have to try that.

My co-worker with the same gear has the same ISP, and yet, he has no problems with 3389. Quite odd IHO.

I've have my roomate set it up in the DMZ. And check it out tonight.

I just want to take an axe to my router right now.

Ok, doesn't seem to work in the DMZ either... time to change my ports when I go home.

regedit is alittle above my roomate's head (especially when it's on my PC)

Well, first question is does it work with no router interference. In other words, are you sure it's the router causing the problem.

Personally I don't even attempt to use products like that through a router (I use VNC)... too much complication.
