And to make my life worse - AIM account disabled

As if enough hasn't gone wrong this week, I woke up this morning to find that the AIM account I use for most of my real life friends and such was disabled by AOL. To be specific, when you sign onto it it now says "Sign on Blocked, click here for more information."

You click there, it brings you to a page with 4 "possible" reasons for this message. The first 2 are irrellevant as they apply only to full AOL members (which I am one, but this SN is AIM only), the next 2 are either you violated the TOS (not likely) or you're marked as under 13 years of age. It provides a link to verify your age.

Well, you click that link, try to sign on to verify, and its telling me wrong username or password. There's no way I'm using either the wrong username or password, and just to be safe I've tried every pw I can think of that I use.

AOL doesn't offer phone or live chat support to AIM members, even if they have AOL accounts. I did finally get my hands on an AIM e-mail support address ([email protected]) but have not yet heard back.

This is killin me.

Also, flipped sent me this link, but at least this guy was able to do the age verification:

After some reading(of the above article) it appears that AOL did a database update for their 5.1 client and this accidentally tagged "A Small Numer" of user as under 13(by small of course they mean only 1million of the 6million users) So basically until you give them a credit card number to verify the age you cant use that screenname...good thing I have six screennames and my two less used one are the locked out ones

he's not using aol in this instance. he's using AIM the messaging program, an entirely different entity. Used to communicate instantly, sorta like PM but you talk instantly.
Sucks to hear that Dan. I guess just create a part 2 and IM everyone on your buddy list?

This whole age verification thing is pissing me off.

Like the MSN Profile Search,.....you cannot search for people under 18 now. That's really lame. I have a lot of friends who are under 18 and when I'm trying to search for them I can't.
