The One Time I'm Glad I Don't Have a 3

Another day in FL, another hurricane. Frances is on it's way and should be hitting by Friday or so. I remember some cars getting messed up after the last hurricane and I'm thankful that I haven't gotten mine yet. This one is 3x the size of Andrew, though not as strong yet. Hopefuly the power doesn't go down so that I can keep myself entertained.

My empathy to others that are going to be hit.

The One Time I'm Glad I Don't Have a 3

I'm in Orlando, and yeah, the projected path is pretty much going to be rigght over us....expected landfall is sat afternoon-ish, but because its so damn big, we'll be gettnig the effects friday evening on through sunday probably. Its a pretty strong storm with 140mph sustained winds and gusts up to 160+mph.

And I'm very nervous about my baby. For Charley I parked next to a big semi, to block one side from wind, the other side was a considerable distance away from trees etc. I figure to do the same this time. hopefully i won't get a bunch of nics and scratches. I'm more afraid of minor damage than major, because I can't afford to repaint my car for a bunch of scratches, but if a semi crushes it at least I get a brand new shiny car.

For everyone else here in central fl, good luck...let's all hope that it gets pushed more and more north.

Now's the time to invest in a car cover, maybe a double car cover.

I've definately considered that. but i'm wondering how much a car cover will help in 140mph winds.

maybe it'll act like a parachute and i'll see my car flying away mary poppins style

LOL, you just need to put some weight on it and it should be fine.

Haha, now there's a picture .

Lolo: You might want to try parking at a friend/relative's house.

Luckily, we have enough space in between our garage and my aunts summer home's garage to put all of our cars away. The thing about this that really sucks is I got rear ended in the 6 yesterday. This means that I'll get to deal with body shops booked up because of the hurricane damage.

About that cover, just hope it doesn't scratch the paint too bad as its flying off.

Hopefully Frances will lose a lot of power when it makes landfall. if tis just as strong as charely was I think my baby will be all right as I didn't get any scratches on her from Charley... I hope they've cleared out all the debris so there's no "missles" lying around.

Hate to say it, but at the current projections, it will hit Orlando as a CAT 3 hurricane. I really hope that no one gets hurt. The biggest thing to remember is that possesions can be replaced, so just protect yourself and pray.
