How not to drive.

I just recently wrote the wonderfully ignorant Josh Jacquot from Sport Compact Car. Who knows, I might be famous if he puts me in the mag, but if he doesn't I will give you all a little insight as to what it was about. Recently if you picked up the mag you might have come across his column titled "Uncommon Ground". Where you might read about this ignorant jackass motorcyclist whom he trys to show his automotive superiority to. Those were phrases he used to describe the encounter with the motorcyclist. I hope some will write him about this, because what happened was a travesty and deffinitly not a shining spot on the face of the community of sport compact car drivers. He went on to tell his story of how he was driving there long term WRX STI through Angeles Crest when he came upon a motorcyclist, who apparently was moving at a rate that was unsatisfactory to him. When he got a section of road that was a two lane section he sped up to pass the motorcyclist, whom promplty throttled up to block him ( yes a dick move,it was.) this infurriated Jacquot to the point he rode the motorcyclist right through the turn, now this is just speculation, but I'm guessing dear ol' Josh here probably ran this right out to the lane merge still trying to pass him. Which probably caused the next situation as he stated was due to the incompitent motorcyclist. Through the turn the motorcyclist ran wide and went inside the oncoming lane and missed an Audi TT motoring along. The TT seemed to be the only competent driver and avoided the head on accident. At this point Josh decided maybe he should back off the motorcyclist. Now I know I don't need to tell anyone this, but please do not drive like this, and I urge you to write this asshole, and let him know, irregardless of how ignorant the motorcyclist was, he was just as much of a child and could've easily caused the death of the motorcyclist by pushing the encounter further than it needed to go. This is no man to represent our sport, or our community. This type of behavior has only one place, and that's at a closed track with safety precautions in place, not in a twisty mountain road, where he could've possibly scared the crap out of a motorcyclist out enjoying the same road over the edge due to him being ignorant and a bigger child just because he got blocked in his pass. I for one don't do this to people, if I can't hold a line, which is rare, but has happened, I will gladly give up position and let the faster person go by. This rider I'm guessing also inexperienced in this situation, pushed it further and started the incident. I was hoping the editor being the more experienced pilot would let it go, and back off. Some background on me, I own a bike, I said that, and I own a sport compact, and I love both. I don't drive or ride this way. I do work as an EMT though, and I see what happens when these things go bad, and usually they go bad in a big way. Usually ending in someone going into a black bag, and into a transport van. Don't be a dick like this guy, think when your out there. I know no one here would do this, and I'm preaching to the choir, but this is just a heads up about someone who represents the compact car scene behaves like. I hope this angers others as it did myself, not just other motorcyclists, I'm sure your here, but drivers in general. This behavior should warrant someone's license being yanked.

How not to drive.

::applauds your thread:: Hey Noob3, thanx for sharing that story...it would be really kewl if you could scan the article and make it an PDF file and post it on this thread so that other people could read it, or share Josh Jacquot's address so people can write to the magazine...I think what makes this situation worse is the fact that he is a writer for Sport Compact Car...if anything these individuals are probably respected for their opinion and words through their magazine...I couldn't believe what I read in your thread about what Josh Jacquot did to the motorcyclist--I think not only is that the most rediciously thing you can do, its also down right right rude...some people really shouldn't be banned from the road...I had one very close call as a pedestarian this summer which involved me, a 4 year old kids and a stupid ass in an SUV who ran a red light while the kid and i were trying to cross the street legally...I don't know how some people manage to pass a driving test the way some people drive...I'd like to think that most people are capable of driving safely, but stupid people like Jacquot and others cause me to have doubts about driving sometimes...

How not to drive.

I know about this situation all too well. Metaphorically speaking I've been the motocyclist, I've been Jacquot, and I've been the TT driver. Thankfully, I've never been in an accident and I'm old enough now to realize that "going a little faster" is not worth endangering your own life or someone elses. Besides, if you slow down, you get better gas mileage!

Umm.. that word makes me twitch. The word you're looking for is REGARDLESS. Irregardless is not a word. Sorry to act like a grammar nazi but that word drives me crazy!

How not to drive.

I will get it scanned and post it,in the meantime,I know they have one of those readers fire back section, most of those catch phrases in there, were taken right from the story. Such as "ignorant jackass" and his "automotive superiority" phrases. Like I said though, here is his email address, hopefully one story will get in on him. I would've subscribed because that is usually a very informative mag,but this threw that out the window. Here is his email [email protected]. Goodluck, and I will scan the story soon.
