Any connection between my reality and yours is purely coincidental.

Definately the best rivalry in baseball, except maybe during interleague when the marlins play the devilrays :P

In sports altogether........well, there are definately better rivalries where the teams play for so much more than just city-pride. Like rivalries where it's two countries playing each other. The more politically charged it is, the better I guess. How about soccer between england and france? or england and germany? maybe england and argentina? Rugby between australia and england? Ice hockey between states and russia (maybe not any more). Heck that game with states and Iran at the french world cup had some decent hype to it too.

Just find two countries that hate each other profusely, and then put them together in a sporting competition and in my opinion you'll get a gladiator-esque performance.

Out of the four major sports (baseball, basketball, hockey and football), I'd hafta say the Washington Redskins/Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers/Cleveland Brown are two of the best rivalries in sports.

I've been to both games and its like a war. It definitely gets ug-ly.

Two words, Summit Series.

Or, does anyone else here remember that cricket match up between India and Packistan, it is really a unique thing when you can watch two countries like that in sport against each other, like watching a war unfold in a cricket game.

Oilers/Flames is a good one, too.

Greatest rivalry

Yesterdays game between the two teams just added fuel to the fire of a great rivalry. Even though the Yanks lost the game, it was still one of the best that I have seen in my 26 years of life. The teams played as if it were a world series game.....
I do agree with what all of you guys said. Soccer, in my opinion definitely holds the greatest rivalries. When a goalie is shot because he accidentaly scored a goal for the other team....THATS a rivalry.

It's funny how me and this friend of mine have so much in common, but when it comes to hockey, we are totally on different end of the world.

Oh did I mention she's an deadmontonian?
