Fighting with Mazda Corporate

I just got off the phone with MNAO (Mazda North American Operations) regarding the grad rebate I *should* have received oh... May 17, 2003 (as in, at the time I bought my car). I never received it. Over the course of the past year+ we've been going back and forth with them sending them more info, etc etc, yet never received the rebate.

Now, they're saying it's too late and I can't get it anymore. WTF?

What are the points of contention?
Did the idiots count the credits on a transcript and try to deny you or something?
Is it over "lost" paperwork?

I would keep going after them. I wouldn't of signed anything until it was included in the contract. You may have a tough time though. After you have signed on the contract without the rebate, they can say you agreed to the terms as is.

Man, that sucks... I figured Mazda would try pulling something like this. I wonder how many people here actually received their cash rebate. I don't know of any way to search for class action proposals or cases though... It'd be interesting to know if lots of others are getting hosed.

I had the $500 taken out of my contract for my car so the dealer got the $500 in cash when (or if) it ever came. I guess my true rebate earnings aren't $500 (time value of money and all that rap), but I had a suspicion that Mazda would screw me out of $500 completely.

I had the same problem a few months back as I get out of my MBA in 2.5 weeks. I had to basicly print off 3 copies of my transcripts and then get a freaking logo put on one becasue they didn't like the "offical" one b/c it lacked my school's seal? What the hell?

I also had a problem with "expected" graduation. I was on the my school's online transcript system while at the dealership. Finally they took my transcripts becasue they realized I wouldn't have the normal expected grad date becasue it's an MBA program. (people take 5 years are 1 year to complete a part-time MBA, not like a full time undergrad) I was ready to write their a$$ up in the survey for that ordeal. I had to make 2 extra trips to the dealership, and my school just for paperwork. It was eventually taken care of, but I've never gotten a survey. I think my dealer has nixed it until they repair my rotors.

Good luck!

If you want a survey - you can write www.mazdausa.com and request one to be sent to you.

My dealer pretty much knew they were going to screw me over on the brakes (since I complained about them within a few days); and I never heard from my dealer ever again... even if I left messages.

Yeah that's basically what happened here. THey didn't like the one that I sent them because it didn't have my pending grad date directly on it, but they never decided to TELL me this.

The point of contention / facts of the case are basically this -
I graduate in December, I bought the car two May's ago (1 yr 2 mo's ago), which makes me eligible for a $400 recent college grad rebate. I submitted information about my pending graduation to the dealer at the time of purchase. They forwarded them to Mazda Corporate for the rebate, never telling me they wouldn't be sufficient. They weren't sufficient, Mazda never bothered to tell me this.
A good bunch of months goes by, I don't get the rebate, I call Mazda and bitch again. They say "we want this info." I send them more info. Never hear from them again.

I call them today, they say that I submitted hte info too late (had to be within 1 yr of car purchase) and I can't get the rebate now.

I just gave the finance guy my actual diploma, no transcripts req. Didn't even bother to do any background on the transcripts. I coulda just bought a fake diploma. He still would have given me 500 off.

Can we organize one of those "request for service" attacks (or whatever they're called) on the MazdaUSA website and bring it down?

Wait, revenge won't get you your money. Can you document the dates of your earlier multiple submissions and send them to the boss of the person who turned you down, and casually mention you run a website for 3,000+ Mazda lovers?

Yeah, but I don't have a Diploma yet, so it was a bit more complicated
