new potential computer...what do you think?
My boyfriend is going to be purchasing a new Sager computer (http://pctorque.com/8790.php) Here are the stats on it:
Sager 8790, 17" wsxga lcd, p4 3.4ghz Northwood cpu, 256mb ati radeon mobility 9700, 1024mb 400ddr ram, 60gb 7200rpm hard drive, 4x dvd+r/-r/rw/cd-rw, tv tuner and subwoofer module, gigabit NIC, targus backpack, 802.11g internal wireless card, 7 in 1 card reader, integrated digital video camera, 3 year warranty, 3 years of shipping costs covered
cost: app. $3000
What do you think? Has anyone else ever ordered a Sager computer and what did you think of it?
*I'll also probably be ordering a computer from Sager soon, but it won't be quite as powerful as my boyfriend's computer.

That certainly puts my New Dell 300m to shame. But I was looking for portability anyway....

Is this a laptop?? It's it's not, then 3000 is way too expensive for it....and if it is....it's still a lil pricey, but more in a normal range for laptops. Another laptop you should look at first are the alienwares, if that's the area you're going towards.
Mazda 3s, Titanium Grey, 6disc changer, spoiler.

Alienware with the exact same specs is $3500 or more.
And yes, this is a laptop with a huge screen!
My boyfriend looked at Alienware and the Dell XPS and found that the Sager was better interms of power and performance.
*take a look at the website that i posted for more info about the computer.

Nice specs. Though if he's willing to pay a bit more, he could get a larger hard drive and better graphics card.

Sounds good to me!!! Even if it doesn't look as cool in the pics as a Satellite P25 does in real life. The 17 inchers are still new so price is fine.
Your boyfriend work out???? Well in either case, he'll build up some lugging that thing around. The P25 weighs 9 freakin lbs and the HP 17 inchers are only slightly lighter so this should be somewhere up there as well.
Btw, was the 3 year warranty standard or added as an option??

::laughs:: He currently lugs his Dell Inspiron 8000 to and from work and that thing weighs about 8-9 lbs.
The Sager weighs a little over 10 lbs, so he'll be nice and strong. And the extra 3 year warranty cost $110 and the 3 years of shipping coverage costs $70...so the full 3 year coverage costs a little under $180, for 3 years of full warranty with Dell it would probably cost him about $250.
And he could get an 80 gig hard drive, but it would only be 5400 RPMs and the 60 gig is 7200 RPMs, which is the same as whats in desktop systems.
And if he did want to shell out an extra $250, he could get a second 60 gig hard drive and config it in a RAID 0.

I would never get a laptop that weighs more than like 6 lbs, and even that is pushing it. But that's just me.
Hope he doesn't plan on moving around too much.

The current generation of "portable" computers doesn't make any sense to me. Why buy it if it's too heavy to actually take it anywhere with you?
Why not just build a MicroATX computer instead? You can built one of those small formfactor "shoebox" PCs as well, get all the power, features of this Sager and come in at less than half the cost.

And 10 lbs is nothing in my opinion. Try carrying my engineering texts around my uni campus and then we'll see.....hahaha. The only bad thing so far is the battery life. 1.5 -2 hrs max I believe......and that sure is shitty.
