New car - Do you give a gift?

Hey All,

It's happened to me once before, or I should say I did it once before. One of my friends had got a new car so I went and bought a car-related gift for them to congratulate/celebrate the purchase.

What do you guys think of this? Is it "standard practice" to do this?

Ummm, unless he's related and plans on buying you something deluxe down the road - I don't see why you'd give a gift to someone who just bought themselves a new car.

Is this some member of the opposite sex you're just trying to impress?

Unless it's a great car wax, or something like that, no, no gift giving between guys. That or a 6pack. A 6pack could work as a congratulations gift. Ok, stripper could be an option....

Just make sure you don't go driving after emptying that 6pack with him

I got an engraved Mazda keychain but it wasn't from a guy - that was more for my graduation actually.

Usually no - no guy to guy gifts
