Last night as I was driving home from work, traffic started stacking up as I approached my city and I ducked off the freeway. From that exit, I take a frontage road which winds along, through a sparsely developed area, then commercial later on. There's a two-lane left turn onto this frontage road, I was in the left hand lane behind a Neon, and to his right there was a bronze-colored Lexus ES300. Two young men sat up front, hip-hop music turned up loud, goofy big spinners on his wheels rotating in the wind.
The light turned green, we made our turn onto 4-lane street. As we approached the next light, the guy in the Lexus is all antsy, weaving back and forth, and coming up fast on a slower car in the right lane. The Neon turned off, I had clear left lane ahead and accelerated. All of the sudden, and I had a hunch that he was going to do it, the kid in the Lexus made a sudden lane change right into my path, cutting me off. At this point, he's about 75 feet from the light which has turned red, so where's he going to go with this now ?
It's either run the light or lock 'em up, so he gunned it and sailed through the red light.
Later, I was only doing about 50, but I caught up to him because the road is sort of twisty. There's a stop sign there, and he waited for me to pull alongside. I don't street race much, but the punk was asking for it, so what the heck. I was driving my WRX, not the 3, so I quickly gave it some revs, slipped the clutch and just crushed him. :P It wasn't even close. Then I backed off, having proved the point that his car wasn't fast. The Lexus executed the flyby as I knew he would, with a twist - swerving over into my lane just as he passed as if to run me off the road.
I just wanted to avoid this idiot at that point. Hah, when I reached the Chevron station at the main intersection to gas up, there was the Lexus waiting at the light. As I got out to gas up the car, the guy and his bro rolled down the windows and started yelling some kind of taunts. I just laughed at them.
And this is the sort of person who probably prides himself on his "mad driving skilz."
