My friend pull in front of a bicyclist

My friend pull in front of a bicyclist andturned right and the cyclist hit her. Anyone have any experience with this situation? Any suggestions? The lady was a bitch and claims to have a hurt need. All she had was a bruise. this was on neighborhood streets. her bike had a few dents.

supposedly she said she tweisted her knee.

you think my friend would have to pay for the bike? i have no idea what to think. if anyone has any input whatsoever it would be greatly appreciated.

Being a cyclist, I'm probably a little biased. Your friend should settle up as best as possible with this lady. If she's a gold digger and is complaining about her knee, then ask for documentation from a doctor.

Remember cyclists should have the right-a-way and your friend should have a little more patience when driving and this kind of stuff won't happen.

Yeah, I'd be careful about this...

Your friend should be glad she's not claiming that your friend caused a miscarriage or her type 2 diabetes.

I agree with stinkypete; your friend should have checked for cyclists before turning right. Even if he had a green light and Allen Greenspan said it was cool to turn right. Now just hope that she doesn't go all crazy with frivolous claims and keeps it down to a new bike and a twisted knee.

You should get her to be examed by a doctor and have that report be noterized or something. See if any of the claims are from pre-existing conditions and if they are/aren't exacerbated by the incident. I think in NY the statute of limitations is like 3 years in which they can build a huge case and sue, dunno what its like down where you are, but that's a long time to build up evidence and an effective acusation against a person.

Be careful, basically cover as many angles as you can.

heh, I've seen my share of doctors perscribe random things and do random diagnosis.

I'm puzzled by this notary thing that you mention; I've never heard of a notorized doctor's note. The doctor doesn't need a public notary to witness his diagnosis and findings.

This reminds me of that Saturn commercial with everything hitting the car's rubber exterior. A person on a bike was the last thing to hit it. But I would pay for the damage bike and give her a get well card. On the card I would put PS.........use your damn brakes next time.

Thanks for all your suggestions. By the way my friend is a girl. She saw the bikes but misjudged their speed i guess. I think she will be more careful around cyclists from now on. At least no one was injured too badly.
