...but I see a lot of kids driving around with their seat back reclined all the way down. What's the point of that? What did they do, remove the seat altogether and sit on a milk crate?

Is that what it is?

What happens if they get rear ended? What does sitting like that do for their posture?

It looks cool while obstructing your view of the road and affecting your ability to reach the steering wheel properly. People who do this are dumbasses.

Ya, but if you live in the ghetto, you gotta worry about drive-bys. This sitting position makes yourself a smaller target. HAHAHAHAAHA :P

Goodness knows why some kids think driving like that is "cool." Is it to appear laid back? Is it so they can hide their faces? Who knows?

It reminds me of the kids who like to creep around out in public with their sweatshirt hoods so far over their faces, the only thing you can make out is their mouth.

Or where the kid wears their hat with the brim so pulled far forward, they look like a duck.

I once drove a 1935 Ford where the seat was just that. What made it more interesting was its mechanical brakes, about akin to dragging your foot out the door. The year was 1952, by the way - yeah, I had a license. And a long time before power steering, at least on my budget.

And then there was the time.....

I used to make fun of people who did it. The ones that lean sooooo far over to the right they look like they're driving while sitting on the console. I understand this is more directed to the seat reclining backwards, but I noticed recently, I recline quite a bit. To me, it's comfortable. I realized if I turn my head to the left, I could see out the back window. I'm 5'11, so I really don't need to be back that far. I usually sit up when drivin, sometimes my upper back is off the seat, but if I want, I can sit back and recline. I usually sit with my back completely against the seat when on the highway. i can see the road fine, and have no vision issues when sitting back. Yes, it looks ghetto, but it could be worse. BTW, I have horrible posture and maybe thats part of the reson it is comfortable. My parents make fun of me, they noticed it the last time I was home, but ohhh well. It also makes it difficult for people to sit behind me. When I have 4 in the car, I have to sit my seat up, and I must say it is very uncomfortable. I'm not used to my chest and arms being that close to the wheel. In an accident, it's a little wierd. When I had mine, my airbag deployed, but I don't think I ever touched it. I wound up just sitting up instead. may be dangerous in a harder accident however, cause one may wind up sliding under the airbag and into the column instead of their whole body moving vertically forward. We'll have to wait and see. Just prefernece for me, however, I think the whole ghetto thing is for looks.

If they sit too far forward, their pants will fall down.

some people actually have to sit like that-their arms are that long, otherwise the people who do this just look stupid IMO.
