Just wondering if any of you know anything about it.

Cause I don't know what it can really do for me if I get the modchip.

Can someone educate me please?

My friends bro has a chip that you install urself (no soldering) and he put a bigger harddrive in the system and copies games to the harddrive. When he wants to play he just loads the games off the harddrive. Dunno which chip he has though.

What do you want to know? I have successfully modded approximately 10 xbox's. I would stay away from solderless options as they are very finicky, and it is much better to have a hard wired connections (only 8 wires). Use the Xecuter 2.3 chip, as I have used them in all of my installs, and they work great. VERY easy install, all the points are very easy to find, and are all close together. There is only one solder point which can be a bit tricky, but it is all very do-able for a novice who is comfortable with a soldering wand.

I threw a Linux boot option on my xbox, and re-wired a computer usb hub for the xbox - surf the net using Linux and a wireless keyboard and mouse on your TV. These are the types of things you can do with a modded xbox. How about streaming movies accross your network from your computer to xbox to tv? There are tons of walkthrough guides out there to take you step by step through all kinds of cool stuff.

I would also recommend you install a larger hard drive in the xbox if you plan on modding it; this way you don't have to burn the games (using a DVD burner) - just get a game, throw it in the xbox and hit copy. Minimum hard drive size would be 80GB. 160GB would be about the sweet spot for price/space/value right now. Most games are between 2 and 4GB - although they can be as small as 800MB or as big as 6GB (so far).

Thanks Mobile. To copy the game to the harddrive, do I need the linux bios? or any other bios to do that? and once it's copied, how do I load it?

if you can provide me with some links for the walkthrough, that would be great. cause i don't think i would know how to stream video to and from my computer, or vice-versa.

hey mobile, how does the chip effect xbox live? My xbox died in december and I still have my live account so I want to go get a new Xbox today. The thing with modding it is that it seems very confusing. Playing burnt or copied games would be cool if I could still use live and not completely remove the xbox dashboard. I have experience building pcs and have tried replacing the PSU in my broken xbox but that didn't work. Guess that's what I get for buying it when it just came out.

I've had a modchip in my XBOX for about 1 year now, and I love it! I installed a larger hardrive and loaded it up with EvolutionX, XBOX mediaplayer, and some other utilities as well as plenty of *cough* backup games. I also installed a switch that allows me to turn the modchip off and boot the XBOX just like normal. While in this mode, I can play on XBOX Live with now worries. For more info on modding your XBOX, I would say the best place to check out is xbox-scene.com. They have tons of guides, links, articles, and other good resources.

if you install a larger hdd xbox live will now automatically ban your account as it checks the firmware of your current hdd to the one that was registered when xbox live was first connected... you can always use xbox connect (www.xbconnect.com) though to play games tho it doesnt support as many. i use my xbox most of the time to watch anime or movies streaming from my computer... easier to relax and watch the movie on the big screen rather than on my 19" mon...
