Routers and Telus ADSL

Hi folks,

So I just bought a router because I want to put 3 connections onto Telus's ADSL services.

I was wondering how I'd set it up?
My initial thought was to connect all 3 computers into the router, and then connect the router to the ADSL modem. Then I would assign only the router's MAC address as the one to be registered.

Anything I missed out? Thanks!

I know you're staring at that Red X avatar of mine

Thats what I've done, and I'm not happy with the performance. I equate it to a pinto. Its lame.

I'm not happy with Telus, and I'm in Calgary.

Take it easy

Telus isn't that good IMO, I'm thinking of switching to Shaw right now

Never with Telus before. I used Rogers, Novus, then back to Shaw.
So far so good on 2 computers :nsmile:

We get 1.5Mbps down and 128kbps up for $30 a month and 3.0Mbps down and 386kbps up for $40 a month. The only downside is that you don't get a static IP, but I think you might be able to pay extra for a static IP.

I think you are good, just follow the manual for the router and you will being fine. Just remember use PPPoE when setup the router. I don't know about Telus but my friend using Bell, you no need to install Bell or Telus in your case supplied dialup software.

For the firewall part, be sure release some ports from the router setup, cause ICQ, MSN and online games will not function. search the faq for your router manual or the best their website to find which ports for which.
