That was fun...my evening last night

So, last night I decided to try to install the new HD I got for my bday-a western digital 80GB. woo hoo! now this is coming from 20gigs, so it's a nice step up. Anyways, so I open up my computer and start following the instructions on how to do this and manage to get everything crammed into my computer and supposedly in the right order and go to turn the power on and nothing happens! check to make sure the power is plugged in-yup it is. all right, flip the little power switch on the back of the computer and try that-nothing. hmmm...so now i'm wondering what the hell i did to my computer? did i kill my power supply, did i kill my hard drive? wtf?

so i call my ex husband, and he has me unhook everything and finally the power comes on. so i rehook up the cd player, and the power still comes on-which is good. so i hook up my old hard drive and the new hard drive (yes, they are set to master and slave) and the power won't come on again! argh. so i unhook the new hard drive, set the old one back to the original settings, and the computer powers up.

hehe, as a result, my computer is now lying on its side on my bedroom floor with parts strewn throughout the computer-hardly anything is hooked up, b/c i got the damn thing to work again and i didn't want to screw it up again. so, now my ex has to come over and fix it up for me tonight and double check to make sure the new hard drive doesn't work, so i can take it back if it doesn't.

and during that whole process i got my hands all scratched up from being inside that small ass case-now i know why people want the tall towers .
so that was my fun fun evening last night-man, i hate computers!

what'd ya'll do last night?

I didnt do anything half as complicated as you apparently did last night... I'm taking the new car to Southern Illinois this weekend, and I only have 300 miles so far, so I went driving around last night hoping to break my motor in a little more before taking it on the highway...

sorry to hear your computer woes

Sorry to hear that your computer is bits and pieces csweeney.

At least your Mazda 6 isn't in bits and pieces.

I spent last night running my car through my favorite driving roads. I had a blast as I ran my 2.3 through the hills and making my self dizzy with glee as I zipped through small hair pin turns.
