Hockey helmet cage advice?

Dunno if anyone here plays hockey, but after some trials and many errors, I decided to stick with the cage instead of the visor.

My question is: how does one get used to a cage setup? I always feel like I'm trapped or something. The visor provides me with more "visibility", but from what I heard it fogs up and stuff...

Suggestions? My helmet is a CCM HT1(L)

My good looks, I mean health is more important than being trapped in a cage. I always wear a full face mask. Your eyes and your teeth and your face are more important

Don't face masks (full visors) fog up?

Hockey helmet cage advice?

Just read a few guides about helmet sizing... apparently, my helmet is too big!

How'd I test? The helmet portion that covers your forehead has to have gap of 1/2 an inch between your eyebrows and the helmet. My gap is something like... 0?

SOOOO... looking at a new helmet now... thinking of sticking with a cage... but not sure if it was the super huge helmet that made me feel kinda weird or the cage...

Try borrowing a visor from a friend and see if you like it. I used to have one but now don't use either a visor or a cage.

Hockey helmet cage advice?

I ended up actually buying a whole new helmet and a cage.

I bought the new helmet because my other one was actually WAY too big for my head. Also, the chin cup on the cage was 2-3 inches away from my chin!!!

So, I ended up with a cage simply because it was too expensive and hard to find a visor that would fit my helmet (I bought a Nike HHH0002 or something like that).

I use glasses when I play (mainly roller hockey) so I need the cage cuz my glasses are really expensive.

Dugrant: I am also thinking of joining a roller hockey league soon. Can you answer some of my questions.

1) How much is it per season to be on the team?

2) Initially how much did it cost you to get all the equipment required to play?

3) What is the league that you play in?

Thanks.

I hate to say it, but I'm actually not part of a league.
All this talk about roller hockey is just for me playing outside on the streets. Sometimes I go with my friends to a lacrosse box or an ice rink (with floor covering) and play with them there.

I can only answer only question (b) because I bought a majority of the equipment. I wear all senior size, and I looked around for good prices on all this stuff.

Here's the breakdown (in CDN dollars):
a) Helmet: 39.99
b) Cage for helmet (recommended): 29.99
c) Hockey gloves: 49.99
d) Chest and shoulder protector: 29.99
e) Shin pads + knee pad combo: 19.99
f) Hockey shaft (Bauer): 29.99
g) Hockey blade: 19.99
h) Hockey rollerblades (Nike Ignite LX): 219.99
i) Jock: Priceless... I mean, 14.99

total price: $454.91 (w/o 14.5% tax)

I didn't buy Hockey pants cuz I usually just play leisure. but it's probably needed for league play. That will set you back about 59.99

I didn't spend it all in one shot, but it does add up. Just look for good deals, that's all.
