Baffling Registration Form

I just bought a Logitech usb Headset and was looking through the information that came with it. I took a look at the questions they ask on the registration form. All the questions are standard (name, address, what gaming systems I own, why did I buy the product) until I came across the last question. It says and I quote "Canadian entrants must correctly complete the mathematical skill testing question: (2x3)+24-5 ="

I know that there are a lot of canadians that visit this board and I was wondering is this standard practice with registering USA products? I find this absolutly stupid.

LOL, that is the stupidiest question Ive ever heard of.

The standard is name, location, household members, household income, things to improve, things you like/dislike, where you shop, how much you paid, etc etc.

Nope, it makes perfect sense, actually, from a legal standpoint. In fact, we did exactly the same thing on 6club for the raffle, I think.

I forget exactly why though, I'd have to look it up... and I'm way too lazy right now.

That is truely a pointless question.

It must have been for a contest - otherwise that math question had no purpose

truely pointless,

Why are there parentheses in this math test? Anyone taking 3rd grade math knows you have to multiply before adding and subtracting anyways.

Mathematical Order:
PEMDAS
Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.

It's a legal issue. In Canada it's law that the winner of a contest must correctly answer a skill testing question. Don't ask me why. In order to have their Canadian clients eleigible fot the contest, they need this question. Of course, it's all BS, because there's no time limit and there's no way to prevent someone from using a calculator.

And if you're curious, if you win the $30 mill for this Friday's Super 7, you don't have to answer one. Lotteries, raffles and 50/50 draws fall under sweepstakes rules.

Ahh, the joys of governmental bureaucracy.

I gotta have my AK!
