Silly Question: Over 30 and own a 3?

Hi all, I'm new here. My sweetie and I are in the market for a new car in the next 6 mos - year, and I've fallen in love with the Mazda 3 sport. The only thing is -- and I admit, this might be kind of silly -- I'm in my mid-30s (sweetie is in his early 40s) and we don't want to look like idiots when we go into the dealership and ask about a car that's aimed toward twentysomethings!

So I'm just curious whether there are any other over 30s around who bought the 3, and what your dealer experiences were like.

Thanks!

Silly Question: Over 30 and own a 3?

Wouldnt it be like saying: a 18yo kid driving a S500 (every week i see one of these punks)?

Its geared towards the younger crowd, but that doesnt mean you cant have fun. Hell Ive seen a older couple (mid 50s probably) driving a slammed VW.

Silly Question: Over 30 and own a 3?

Welcome to the board!

Must you drive a car than costs way more or is much larger to feel like you fit in? If you do, then the 3's not for you. If you like the car, what's the big deal?

This topic belongs in the Lounge, so please continue there.

Silly Question: Over 30 and own a 3?

i live in houston and i still have not seen a 3. there are plenty of mazda 6's though. sure, its probably aimed for the young drivers, but if i saw you in your 30's driving a 3 i wouldnt say anything. and if i was the dealer, i wouldnt be stupid to say anything negative. i mean, they want to sell the car. im 17 and drive a navigator. big piece of crap takes up too much gas and i always prefered a car to begin with. i mean for me its vice versa. im driving an old man lincoln car. i want something for my age. but in your case, its no big deal. for the price, you cant let this opportunity go.

it's not about whether the car fit your age, it's about whether you like the car or not

Welcome, we need other Houston owners.
An who cares how old you are? it's the zoom zoom spirit that draws people to the car.

Silly Question: Over 30 and own a 3?

I'm in my 40's (had a birthday today ) and love this car. I will never conform to driving big ass shoe box cars because I'm a little long in the tooth. I really don't think about it and neither should you - get those foolish thoughts out of your head (and sweeties head ) before you actually start believing that your age has anything to do with the car you drive. And the car is not aimed toward 20somthing - it's aimed toward people that like cool cars that look good, handle well and are very practical. Now go buy it before you end up with a Taurus in the driveway

Hahahhahahaha! Now that would be sad...!

My father bought a Toyota Matrix because he wanted to be different and he also wanted a cool car. He is turning 60 this summer but looks and acts like a 40 year old!

 My (54) year old sister and my (85) year old father-in-law both drive Tauruses. I'm trying to hold on to my extended adolescence for as long as I possibly can!

We both want a car that is practical and reliable, but with me being the flashier half of the couple, I want something that looks good too. I sort of liked the original Protegé, but when I saw my first 3 in person I knew I had to have one! The 3 seems to have everything we want in a car... now all we have to do is start saving for the down payment!

(Oh, and sorry for posting this in the wrong forum - silly newbie mistake!)

(Edited to add: Happy birthday, Black7!)
