Credit Card Fraud
Ok, so I've had a pathetic day. I get a phone call from BB&T (my bank) this morning informing me that two transactions appeared on my account last night from my debit card. Apparently some jack ass decided to do some holiday shopping with my money in Pineville, NC, at a Best Buy store. He/she tried to buy $2411.56 at 9:10pm, and it was declined b/c my daily spending limit is only $200. That didn't work, so they tried $1000, and it too was declined. So of course, now I'm in a panic because the bank proceeds to tell me that they actually are in possession of my card b/c it is being swiped and not manually entered. Which is odd since I have the ONLY card (to my knowledge) and I had it in my wallet. So some @$$hole is in NC on a shopping spree. So I had the guy flag my account and cancelled my debit card. After I got off the phone with him, I called that Best Buy store and talked to the manager and he said they had video surveillance and that law enforcement would have to request it. So in the meantime, I've called my credit card companies, my other bank, and the credit bureau to put flags on all my accounts. So on my lunch break, I mosey on down to the BGPD and explain it to the guy. He said since the crime was committed in NC, the Pineville PD would have to be the ones to file the police report. So now I'm waiting for them to call me back. I'm about to pull a Law & Order move on this guy. I'm gonna track 'em down dammit! :-) I'll keep y'all posted.
