Anyone familiar with NEC monitors?

I've recently begun the process of trying to find a somewhat budget-minded photo editing monitor. My general budget was around $300-$350 (reason being, I'd eventually like to go with dual monitors when my CPU can handle it). After going through quite a few reviews the NEC (EA231WMI-BK) monitor seems to be one of the best out-of-the-box monitors I can buy without having to invest in a color calibrating tool. At least from the research I gathered...

Generally I found this monitor to sit between $300-$350 or higher. Luckily for me I found this gem for $261! http://cgi.ebay.com/NEC-Displays-EA2...item3a60340625

Before I go ahead and buy this I was curious to see if anyone here has, had, or heard of anyone using one. Also, if you have a different suggestion for a monitor in the $300 area feel free to share, I'm open to other ideas as well.

IPS panel, which is good, but that response rate of 14ms is pretty abysmal.

Yeah, that I understand. I'll be using this for almost only photo editing with a few video editing things here and there.

14ms is probably too slow if you do anything involving video, ever. I didn't even know panels with that slow a response time still existed

Re: Anyone familiar with NEC monitors?

I sold televisions 2-3 years ago and I remember at that time they had a 6-8ms response time. Almost doubling that would be interesting...

without side by side comparison with a quicker monitor, I doubt you'd even notice it.
