Help me choose a DSLR for a B-Day present.

My mom's birthday is coming up and she has wanted a new camera for a couple years now and we haven't really had the money to get a new one. She currently has a Canon SLR with about 3 different lenses. I just got a job at BestBuy and I wanted to suprise her with a DSLR for her b-day since I will be getting really good discounts. I currently have a cheaper Nikon DSLR but I wanted to get something a little better for my mom as she is an experienced photographer. She doesn't go out a shoot nearly as much as she used to so I don't really want to get anything ridiculously expensive. I'd like to keep it under 1K. Any suggestions. It has to be from BestBuy as thats were I get discounts from.

Thanks.

If she's used to Canon (EOS system, I assume?) and already has EF-mount lenses (check), it's gotta be Canon.

How about a new Canon T1i?

She has a Canon but she says she likes the Nikons. I'd preferably like to stick to Canon if I could. Yes they are EF-mount lenses she has.

That's built-in value for the Canon then--you can even step up to a 50D body only (i.e. no lens) and she'll still be able to start shooting right away

I know I need to get her a new flash as the one she has in broken.

As for lenses she has about 3 or 4 of them. A few filters and what not.

This is all true, to the best of my knowledge.

Yeah, if you don't have to buy her any lenses... grab her a 50D body!!
