7D owners?

For a while now i've been shooting video on my Panasonic AG-HMC150. Well, as some of you may know, AVCHD is the newest recording format to hit the market, hence, ridiculously hard to edit. I'm considering the switch to the Canon 7D. From what i've seen, its 1080p looks amazing and has variable frame rate recording, as well as 8 FPS RAW images in still mode. I used to shoot photos but stopped to do video and would love to be able to do both again.

Does anyone have this body? My buddy has one but we're both pretty busy people so trying to get to his place to check it out is tough haha.

Re: 7D owners?

I have one. Do not buy it for its video. Buy it for what it can do for stills, and the video is a bonus. It is not easy to use as a video camera, and importing the files is not exactly easy. You also do not have any form of auto focus on video, it all must be done by hand and through the little screen which is hard to do precisely. In the right hands, amazing videos can be made, but the videos you are seeing, for the most part, are pro videos.

For the camera, I love it. The features are amazing. And you can set everything for the video as well, its just as straight from the camera, for me its hard to use. To try and move and focus with no issues is not easy for me.

People I work with question all the time how afford to live the way I do. And we all make the same amount of money!!! I am just good with money and we spend wisely. I don't see how all my buddies (who are same rank as me) are always broke!!!! And I am just a poor old E-6. Not even an officer.
