In need of a new monitor. Suggestions?

Well, I'm finally gearing up to replace my old PC. For starters, I'd like to pick up a new monitor. I'm not too particular, it needs to be at least 20", and will likely be run in a dual setup.

The PC will primarily be used for multimedia and photo editing. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lamar

I have that and its a piece of shit. I say grab an old 20" Apple Studio Display on eBay. Best image editing monitor you're going to get (for the price).

I have two and they've been awesome to me for 3 years so far FPW2005--only thing I wish it had is an HDMI port, but back in 2005 you could barely find those on TVs since there wasn't anything that really utilized it

Ultrasharp 20" Dell is no POS. I have a couple of those and they are quite nice, just have to properly color calibrate them with a color tool. I also have a 22" Dell and it's decent, buts its a non Ultrasharp. Should have my 30" Ultrasharp within a month or two can't wait to see how that puppy looks.

^ Ok, its not a POS, but its not the best by far. Anything with a TN panel is going to be sub-par.

Get a Dell 2209WA if you can find one (or anything with an IPS panel).

Then there's also the 2408WFP, which is a VA panel...

My 2004FPWs are starting to burn in a little--but only when Windows decides to turn off the "Shut monitors down after 20 minutes" setting and they end up displaying a static image all night.

I have a 2007WFP (IPS 8 bit panel) that I'm not using if you want to buy it for $130. Fantastic monitor, check out the reviews online.

Re: In need of a new monitor. Suggestions?

For photo editing pick up the HP 2475W. H-IPS panel, and once calibrated has better accuracy than any other sub-$1k LCD monitor.

If you want to spend over $1k, pick up a NEC.
