Any tips on doing the invisable hood picture

I'v seen the photos of our cars having no hood but it looks like it does have the hood like the outline is there but you see the engine, I am still new to Photoshop and was wondering if anyone has tips I'm sure theres 2 pictures involved at least, and than possibly painting the hood on top of the engine with a low opacity but not 100% sure...

I have done a picture of me floating and than did a tutorial if anyone was interested...

Re: Any tips on doing the invisable hood picture

1. place camera on tripod
2. take photo with hood closed
3. open hood
4. take second photo
5. load photos onto computer
6. open both in photoshop
7. copy closed hood into a second layer on the open hood photo
8. adjust opacity to taste
9. erase the open hood

Re: Any tips on doing the invisable hood picture

You don't really even need to adjust the opacity. Place the open hood image underneath the closed hood image, erase the hood. I'd be careful with shadows though, make sure the opened hood isn't casting a shadow on the engine. You could fix it, but it would be a lot of tedious work.
