Circuit City Selection

Anyone find a deal yet. I'm currently eyeing a display model and hope they'll drop the price another $200 to $300.

Re: Circuit City Selection

I picked up a Sony Alpha300k (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1215217313293) a couple of weeks ago for 30% off. So I paid $420 for a $600 camera. It was all they had left, plus 5 or 6 Canon 40Ds, although that was more camera than I was looking for. Judging by your hopeful price drop, it might be right up your alley, though. Should I see if they have any left?

Yeh, they still have that model left in the store here. I'm waiting for the price drop on the Canon display model.

You, it was like that before they were liquidating. Wonder why they went out of business?

According to their press release they weren't making enough to cover the merchandise anymore in the states. The still have stores that will remain open in Canada. They owed way too much. Same reason most other big names are falling

Re: Circuit City Selection

I was trying to sound sarcastic about the wondering why they went out of business. I had seen that press release of the technicalities of it, but in general every circuit city I have seen is placed WAY to close to their main competitor (Best Buy), their prices were routinely more then Best Buys, their selection was lower, their service worse and their store layout worse then Best Buys. So between that and online retailers I am shocked Circuit City lasted as long as it did.

We have had a Circuit City in over 6 years. It was located less than a mile from Best Buy. I went to Fayetteville this weekend and the Circuit City there was right next door to Best Buy. The only thing that separated the two was a long curb.

Circuit City is just a prime example of poor management, poor marketing, and poor business.

LMFAO "oh i thought i didn't need that" i bet in your head you were like "go kick your mom in the ass for me when you get home " 08mazda2.0

Re: Circuit City Selection

Yup here there is/was a circuit city across from the mall that had a Best Buy in it (less then 300 yards). The circuit city by my office is a bit further away, maybe a mile and a half from the Best Buy. In college they were in the same shopping center (maybe 100 yards apart).

I see Best Buys that are all by their lonesome (well, no other electronics stores), sometimes even 10-15 miles from another electronics store...but never that with Circuit City. You can't tell me Best Buy just had a vastly larger store network (okay it is/was bigger), becuase there are deffinitely places where there are no Best Buys for a good distance where it would make sense to have an electronic store (fairly high population area and the closest electronics store might be a 30-40 minute drive).

At the least put your dang Circuit city on the other side of town from the Best Buy. If the store was more convenient to some people they'd probably see higher sales, but if the convencience is the same most people will go with better customer service and lower prices.
