Canon Wireless Remotes

I've been looking around for a wireless remote for my XSi.

After reading reviews on the RC5 and the RC1, I think I need something better.
Apparently you always have to be in the line of sight of the sensor in order for it to even work.

When I had my Nikon D50 and the ML-L3 Remote, I never had such a problem. I would stand a few feet away (even hold the remote behind my back) and it would always work.

What is everyone using? Wired? Aftermarket?

Re: Canon Wireless Remotes

Thanks for posting this Suzy. I definitely want to know the answer to the question as well.

I currently have a Canon RC-5 and you literally have to hold the remove RIGHT in the line of sight of the sensor. It makes rig photography quite difficult if I am the only one there and need to drive the car. It makes it so I have to roll the window down and have my arm out of the car to trigger the shot and quickly roll the window up before the picture is taken.

Re: Canon Wireless Remotes

I dont like the wireless ones personally. I prefer the wired ones for their ease of use, but thats just me. Of course any wired one is going to need to be modified more than likely to make it long enough for your needs, I never understand why they dont make those damn cords longer.

Re: Canon Wireless Remotes

The problem is a wired cord isn't very good for rig shots if I have to be in the cabin of the car... it is just another thing I'd need to photoshop out.

Re: Canon Wireless Remotes

As far as I know, they don't make an RF remote for canons... not that I have ever seen... an alternative option though for situations like Lara's is simply to have it on both remote and timer mode... If you do find an RF remote though as opposed to an IR one like most of us have, PLEASE POST IT
