The new Ford Focus RS is coming stateside, but you wonít be able to get one until next year.
The brand has announced that the car will make is North American debut next week at the 2015 New York Auto Show
, but it wonít show up in dealers until spring of 2016. It will be built at the Fordís assembly plant in Saarlouis, Germany.
Powering the car is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that will make 'well in excess' of 315 hp according to Ford. An inadvertent leak on a European Ford website claimed an output of 345 hp, although a Ford spokesman says the number is incorrect.
All that power will be routed through an all-wheel drive system that uses twin clutch packs on each side of the rear-drive unit that are able to send up to 100 percent of the carís power to each rear wheel, allowing for torque vectoring during cornering to help improve performance. Drivers will be able to choose from normal, sport or track mode in the Focus RS, which also now features a special drift mode.
This is the latest high-performance vehicle to be revealed by Ford as part of a plan to bring 12 performance vehicles to market by 2020.
