Holiday 2009

Hey ladies! Any plans for your holiday this year, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or whatever else??

I'm pretty sure I'm working until December 23. I think I will be opening presents with my father's parents Christmas eve day then heading down to Bethany Beach, DE where my mother's side of the family lives. I'll be staying there all day Christmas then going to Brandon's house for the weekend!!

I haven't decided when I'm going to give Brandon his Christmas present. I'm not sure I can wait to give it to him till the day after Christmas... so I might give it to him the weekend before when I'm at his house. I should be getting it in the mail this week some time!!! I'm so excited to give it to him! He has NOOOOOOOO idea what it is!! EEEK!!!! I'll admit... I went a little overboard, but I love him so much!! I just had to spoil him!!

Re: Holiday 2009

As is tradition in my family, I will be heading to my sister's to make Japanese Sweet Potato Latkes and spend time with her kids. It's all about spending time with family and friends. We don't do any type of gift exchange. The kids get one gift for all 8 days and they get to choose which day to open them.

Re: Holiday 2009

Aww! That sounds fun!!!

I love the holidays and spending time with my family!!! Some of my family was just down in my area this past weekend for a little "get-together" and just talked and hung out. It was nice! I don't get to see them very much since they live kinda far away and our schedules are all different.

Our family has an "adult-Pollyanna" - where the 9 people on my mom's side of the family picks a persons name from a hat and only spends up to $50 on that person. It saves a lot of money and a lot of shopping time. I'm still in the "kids" section this year because I haven't had a job long enough so my family still wants to help me out and buy me stuff. I said I'd go in it... but they insisted they wanted to help me.

Re: Holiday 2009

Christmas morning, I'm opening gifts with my parents, 3 sisters, brother-in-law and niece. Afterwards, I'm going to Josh's to host Christmas dinner at his new house with his big family! Then he's coming back home with me to celebrate the rest of Christmas. My brother works til 2pm that day, so that night we're having him open his gifts, along with Josh, and one of my other sister's boyfriends. Should be super fun!! I still don't know what to get him. Maybe something concerning the Cardinals. We're huge fans

Sounds like fun Kim! Seems like you'll be pretty busy Christmas day!!

I was thinking of getting Brandon some Florida State/Bucs stuff... but I went a different route! I think he'll be quite satisfied.

Re: Holiday 2009

well hanukkah is over for mo.. i got him a surround sound that hes been asking for.. for months now.. along with 4 dvds. christmas for me is coming up next week and im excited. hes been hinting at getting me a bigger ring. the good thing about that is that he doesnt have to spend a ton bc i gave him an old diamond ring of mine to trade in towards the new one. but nothings set in stone.. he did the same thing (talking about it showing them to me and stuff) last year and i didnt get it. so i will let you ladies know what goes on after christmas!

Re: Holiday 2009

Diamonds are nice lol.

Christmas is in 4 freaking days!! So excited!! whooo hooo!!

I'm pretty much done my shopping. I just need to figure out what to do for the grandparents. I got my mom the Xena Warrior Princess DVD's (whole series), Battlestar Galactica: Caprica (movie), a sleep set that's really comfy and an iPod cable for her car. I got my dad an Army Corps shirt and a book. He didn't want much... and never gave any clues as to what he wanted. bah. He's difficult.

I already got my Christmas present ---> new tires for my car. lol. that's pretty much all I'm getting. I'm sure I'll get some money or something, but that's really it.

Re: Holiday 2009

I was at Trader Joe's yesterday and the cashier asked if I was ready for Christmas. I hate being asked that. I know he was only being nice, but I just hate how everyone assumes everyone celebrates it. I said something to the affect of "No, I don't celebrate it." That shut him up a bit.

Re: Holiday 2009

Yeah... that's why people are starting to say "happy holiday's" instead of "Merry Christmas" this time of year. I remember when I worked at Old Navy, we had a meeting about what to say during holiday season. 'Just say "Happy Holidays" so that no one gets pissed and starts a riot at the store'! LOL. that's seriously what they told us!

Re: Holiday 2009

When I worked retail during college, no one ever had to tell me to wish people a "Happy Holidays". I always did that on my own since I'm one of the few who don't celebrate Xmas. I wanted to respect other people in the same boat as me.
