Eloping

What are your thoughts....I keep thinking about it and of course I joke around saying "yeah I just want to do that...this is such a hassle" Well its really cause Brians mom is pissy about a small affair and I am tired of hearing it...so if we can't have one we are not having any but close family and a friend or 2...
So What if we did something here...like say someones back yard. I have the wedding dress I picked out and he has a tuxedo and we have like immediate family> Plus I already know who is marrying us.
See the thing is my mom put725 dollars on a non refundable date, but she keeps saying just do it I don't care...but I dunno...garrrr I don't feel like dealing with the hassle and putting my parents in debt for one day. not to mention the fact that my brother is getting married in Oct and they are planning a rehearsal dinner fo r them

Re: Eloping

You have to do what makes you guys happy. We would have done this but changed our minds in the end. In your heart you know what you want. You know that you want all eyes on you for the day. To be in all white (or whatever color you pick) Or you can always go to Vegas like we were going to and get married with a small group of friends and family. This is a day you will not forget so choose what is in your heart. I mean seriously. If you elope and you really did not want to you could regret it. I am super good at planning weddings. Well mine I guess. LOL I did ours for less than $5500.00 (50 guest, food, cermony, minister, reception, DJ, Photographer, my dress $900.00, decorations, tux and so on...)

So just sit down and write the pros and cons out girlie. This is the day you will always look back on!!!

Re: Eloping

Thats basically what I did. I dont care for giant weddings, and was going to just run off to Vegas and do it, since I was going to Vegas for the weekend anyway. But my mother would have killed me (Tiffany knows, she knows my mom)! So we ended up going to the courthouse, and my mom, dad and a couple close friends came down. It was simple. I didn't have to spend gobbs money on a dress I'll never wear again (and I'm not having kids so no one to pass it on to). I really just wore my jeans, flip flops, and a shirt. My lifestyle is entirely comfortable, so I wanted my "special day" (which wasnt that special, since its a marriage of convience, long story) to me comfortable as well.

Re: Eloping

Exactly to each their own.
You just need to make sure you are happy with your decision.

I agree....feel bad we spent all that money on a dress to wear it once. And go figure the chances of having a daughter one day fit into my dress will be slim to none. LOL
I mean I bought this awesome dress and cut what almost 2 feet off the bottom. LOL

Enjoy what you will be celebrating.

Re: Eloping

Well I don't know about eloping (CaSHMerE!!), but a small wedding would be fine. I already have my dress (beautiful and only $450), so at least I don't have that expense anymore. I have always wanted to have the wedding where everyone's eyes are on you and you have the beautiful wedding album and everything. So Tiff, if you have any suggestions on how we can do it less expensively that would be great!!!!

Re: Eloping

Oh girl you have no idea how many ideas I have. You may want an email for this one.

1. make your own decorations
2. if you have a friend who can marry you that is great and cheap
3. do a buffet for your reception (try to make it something everyone can eat)
4. don't be afraid to bargain
5. have wedding in place other than fancy hotel or something (mine only cost $100.00 for the ceremony outside)
6. just have fun

I have a ton more suggestions. I am good at that.

I mean I will post some pics of my wedding....and to be honest this was all done by me. I went to Walmart and bought the bridesmaids bouquets (cheap only $15.00 each) and then added our red color by adding some cheap red flowers. So on........

Re: Eloping

Tiff your wedding looks like it cost a lot of $$$! You did so good! Bargain shopping is the best!
