Re: Weddings and Engagements

Kira, are you certain you will have 100 guests? We invited about 130 and had around 70 who could make it. Of course, most guests were coming from out of state and we got married in the Winter in MI, so a lot of folks were scared-off by the thought of driving in a potential blizzard (and we did have one 3 days before our wedding, on Christmas day). If you invite 100, my guess is that you would likely have about 75 in attendance.

Beach weddings are great. I photograph weddings from time to time and I love outdoor, beach settings. They are just so much more relaxed and intimate. I really wish my hubby and I had done the outdoor thing, instead of the church wedding...we're really just not formal people. I think we had the church wedding more to keep the grandparents happy, which was kind of dumb, considering it was OUR day and we were the ones paying for it. In hindsight I wish we had done exactly what we wanted.

Re: Weddings and Engagements

I wish I could do the beach thing...its always been a dream but PA isn't the closest to beach and since Randy's family is from Indiana and mine if from PA it makes it even harder. So we are going a have a nice big traditional wedding so I get to have a dress with a royal train I love it...and when I went to the dress shop they can get it ordered for me with 765...w/o tax but for this dress I thought it was an amazing deal...here is the dress hehe www.marysbridal.com/
Oh, and as far as wedding size goes for me we have a list of 250ish so I am expecting about 215...230ish because it will be summer time and right around 4th of July so our families will be more flexable then (and from the response i've been getting..oh thats a good weekend)....is that a good thing or a bad thing haha Lots of family tends to = problems doesnt it? lol

So what colors are you going with Kira? I fell in love with turquoise for my bridesmaide dresses with white roses dipped in turquoise. And then for the reception the colors are going to be turquoise and black....well the table cloths and place cards will be black.....I don't want it to look "dark" but I think TQ is a bright enough, vibrant color that it will compliment black pretty well....what do you guys think??

Re: Weddings and Engagements

Wow, $765 sounds like a good price--I think mine was about $700 (and not super fancy, by any means...ivory Italian matte satin, short-sleeved, a little bit of beadwork), and that was about 10 years ago--I would imagine dress prices have gone up since then. Very nice!

Re: Weddings and Engagements

Hello girls! Awesome thread.

I actually just got married (just a civil ceremony) but am planning a small reception for August.

Here's what I have so far...

the place:

www.mayfairfarms.com

We're having an outdoor ceremony there. Should only be about 75 guests- we want something small.

I'm actually going to check out dresses officially next sunday (the 26th) but here are my picks so far:

My dress:

Flower girls:
http://www.davidsbridal.com/flowergi...1&nav=next
Maid of Honor:
will wear whatever she wants in that red "apple" color

I'm not having any bridesmaids- just 3 flowers girls / 3 little boys (not even sure what they should be called- only 1 will really hold the rings) and my maid of honor and the best man. I want it very simple.
I'm smack in the middle of planning everything- its beginning to drive me nuts!!!!

Re: Weddings and Engagements

Lily, I LOVE the red trim on that dress! Back when I got married some dresses had pink trim, but nothing more bold than that. We had a late Dec. wedding and our flowers were poinsettias...that dress would have been PERFECT!
